Senior Software Engineer with 5 years building production web applications. I specialize in full-stack development with React, Next.js, Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript, Python and FastApi backed by PostgreSQL and MongoDB. I also build AI-powered products. I've shipped production features using LangChain, including RAG (retrieval-augmented generation), LLM agents, and conversational interfaces, working with vector databases and the OpenAI and Anthropic APIs, and I'm deepening this work with Python. Rather than treating AI as a separate specialty, I bring it directly into full-stack products. Recent highlights: a multi-tenant B2B SaaS platform with role-based access control, and a React + Storybook design system that cut my team's feature-development time by 50%. I care about clean architecture, real-world impact, and shipping things people actually use. I communicate fluently in English (and am learning German, A2). Open to remote roles and always happy to connect with people building interesting products.

Long polling is a simple way to get near real-time updates without using WebSockets. The idea is pretty straightforward: Client sends a request --> server keeps it open --> something happens --> server responds --> client sends another request. Benefits • Simple to understand and implement • Works over normal HTTP • Easier to integrate with existing APIs • No persistent WebSocket connection to manage • Can work well when updates are relatively infrequent Disadvantages • More HTTP requests • Connection overhead • Not ideal for frequent updates • Can create unnecessary load at scale • Reconnection and timeout handling can get messy For something like occasional notifications, long polling can be perfectly fine. For chat, collaboration, or frequent two-way updates, I'd usually look at WebSockets. The “best” solution depends on how your application actually communicates. #WebDevelopment #NodeJS #BackendDevelopment #WebSockets #SystemDesign
What if writing to the database is slowing down your API? You don't always need to make the user wait for it. For some operations, you can do: Request --> Redis Queue --> Worker --> Database The API can accept the request, put a job in the queue, and respond immediately. The worker handles the database write in the background. This can be useful for things like: • Analytics events • Activity logs • Notifications • Usage tracking • Non-critical updates The important part is knowing what can be asynchronous. If the user needs the database result immediately, you obviously can't just throw it into a queue. But if the write doesn't need to block the user? Don't make the user wait for it. #Redis #NodeJS #BackendDevelopment #SystemDesign #SoftwareEngineering
