The largest employee-owned company in America isn't a tech company, it's a grocery store. Publix Super Markets has over 260,000 employees and it’s made many employees millionaires. An Atlanta man started working at Publix right after graduating high school. Decades later, he retired with more than $1 million in Publix stock. He never got a college degree. Here's how a grocery store did that: Publix operates an employee stock ownership plan called the PROFIT Plan. Eligible associates receive Publix stock every year at no cost to them. They don't have to contribute a dime and in 2025 alone, Publix contributed $561 million to this plan. Historically the annual stock allocation has often been around 8% of eligible pay, though Publix's board sets the contribution each year. Cashiers, baggers, deli clerks, truck drivers and warehouse staff - everyone eligible gets shares. Publix CEO Kevin Murphy put it plainly: "It's incredible in our 94-year history how many truck drivers and deli clerks and stock clerks have become millionaires." The results speak for themselves: 🟢 Publix has made Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For 29 years in a row 🟢 One of only four companies to appear every year since the list began 🟢 Publix has historically reported dramatically lower turnover than the broader retail industry 🟢 By 2011, Publix told Congress it had never had a layoff in its 81-year history The theory is simple: give workers skin in the game and their interests align with the company's. Publix has spent nearly a century quietly becoming one of the best employers in America!
If you work in the US, you’re federally guaranteed ZERO paid days off. Meanwhile, here's what the rest of the world requires by law: → France: 25 days → UK: 28 days → Germany: 20 days + holidays → Spain: 22 days + holidays → Sweden: 25 days → Australia: 20 days → Japan: 10 to 20 days → Mexico: 12 days and up But the United States gives you: nothing. For most American workers, paid vacation only exists because their employer chooses to offer it. Not because the law requires it. Which means potentially millions of people never getting paid vacation days at all. And some even working on federal holidays. Guaranteed paid vacation shouldn’t be some fancy company benefit. Nearly every other wealthy economy already requires it. The US just chooses not to. People deserve to be paid for days off!
This might be a hot take but I love seeing "landed a new job" posts on LinkedIn. In recent months it feels like we’ve gotten bad news after bad news. So today I hope I can help at least one person find their dream role. I used viktor.com to pull the top 10 companies hiring tech workers. It pulled this interesting list of companies from Forbes. But I know being in a remote role is important to many folks. So I asked it to dive into each career page and find how many open roles were remote. Here are the best U.S. Employers for Tech Workers: → NVIDIA - 2,634 open roles (570 remote) → Google - 3,392 open roles (72 remote eligible) → Bridgestone - 3,185 open roles (28 remote) → Microsoft - 2,356 open roles (297 remote) → Texas Health Resources - 759 open roles (no remote published) → Corning - 1,208 open roles (24 remote) → Harley-Davidson - 79 open roles (6 remote) → Arizona State University - 112 open roles (17 remote) → Northwell Health - 1,352 open roles (16 remote) → Delta Air Lines - 154 open roles (10 remote) Viktor really knocked it out of the park with this one. And remember that now is a great time for job searching. Because summer is over and everyone is back from vacation. I hope this helps someone land their dream job in September! ♻️ repost to help others! #jobsearch #remotejobs #openroles #ViktorPartner #ad
