A few weeks ago, I joined 8x as a Software Engineer. The biggest thing I have noticed is the pace. Things don’t sit around for weeks waiting to be discussed. You build, ship, see what happens, improve it and move again. There’s very little distance between having an idea and being responsible for making it work. That level of ownership took some getting used to, but it has probably taught me more in the last 20 days than I expected to learn in months. Not only technically. I am starting to understand much more about what actually goes into building a product, how decisions get made when things are moving quickly, and how much can get done when everyone around you genuinely cares about the outcome. The standard is high, people work hard and there is always something happening. I really like that. I’m grateful to Theo B. and Jaka Bavdek for trusting me with real responsibility from the beginning, and to Amna Ahmad for making the transition into the team considerably easier and more fun. Still very early, but I am excited to see how much we can build from here. And yes, we’re hiring: https://www.8x.careers/

2nd place at FAMNIT Hackathon 2026 🥈 It was a pleasure to spend last weekend at the hackathon organised by Google Developer Group On Campus University of Primorska in Koper. Out of the problems on offer, the one from YouSea Institute - Zavod YouSea was the most challenging and the one that gave us the most room to be creative. We designed a system for underwater visibility prediction to help marine researchers, reef monitoring teams, and divers plan their expeditions. Besides the system, we also designed a full sensor station from scratch to reduce costs and improve precision. Massive thanks to my team: Luka Georgieski, Vuk Ignjatovic and Arsenije Đorđević.
