I’m a solo founder on pace to do $1M+ in revenue this year and somehow, almost every day , still feels like one of two things: We’re building something insanely successful. Or we’re going out of business. There’s very little in between :/ Don't get me wrong, my day to day now feels A LOT better than when I had $0 in the bank. But the anxiety never really leaves. I’m curious for founders who are a few steps ahead of me... Does that feeling ever go away? Or is this just what running a company feels like? Forever?
It’s been a month since I walked away from an offer to sell MarketPryce. It was (obviously) scary, but it felt like the right decision. Here's everything that's happened since: Had our biggest month ever with our biggest client SoFi. The performance contract we’re building together will be larger than MarketPryce’s entire revenue from the last few years combined. Closing in on 1,000 athlete posts for One 11 Brands (PHX Energy) at just under a $12 CPM. Sent 100+ college athletes into Walmart stores to promote recent launches from Carlin Consumer Health (Mineral Ice Extreme) and Alchemee (formerly The Proactiv Company), proving how powerful college athletes can be for local retail awareness. Wrapped our own Back-to-School campaign, facilitating deals for 1,062 athletes and 16 brands in 3 days. Helped longtime partner VKTRY Gear expand into three entirely new sports: cheer, hockey and wrestling. Launched new long-term campaigns with incredible brands like DoorDash and Gopuff. 30 days doesn’t prove that walking away was the right call. But the entire reason I walked away was because I knew there was something much bigger here. College athletes becoming the next generation of influencers. Brands working with hundreds of them at scale. MarketPryce powering it. LFG 🚀
MarketPryce revenue by quarter this year (so far): Q1: $177k Q2: $193k Q3: $285k Q4: $155k booked, projected to finish above 300k I was looking at these numbers today while planning for Q4 and had one of those moments where I realized how quickly progress becomes normal. A year ago, MarketPryce did less than $100K in revenue. For the entire year. I was so close to throwing in the towel. If you told me a year ago that these would be MarketPryce’s 2026 numbers, I would’ve lost my mind. Now I look at them and immediately start thinking about what we need to do next. Funny how quickly the thing you were dreaming about becomes the new baseline to improve upon. Trying to get a little better at celebrating the wins before moving the goalposts again.
