I am Prisca Onyekwu, an Information Architect and Governance Specialist who helps businesses organize their information and work better. I studied Library and Information Science, which gave me strong skills in managing knowledge, records, and digital systems. I also gained leadership experience as Chief Councillor in my department, where I handled planning, communication, and documentation. I help teams turn messy files, documents, and scattered data in tools like Google Drive, Notion, and Slack into clean, searchable, and easy-to-use systems. My goal is to save time, reduce confusion, and help businesses grow faster. I also support organizations by creating clear work processes, managing records, writing reports, and improving teamwork. I enjoy researching and explaining topics like Web3, technology, and business in a simple way people can understand. I am also a skilled dressmaker. Knowledge I enjoy combining organization, creativity, and leadership to solve problems. If your team needs better systems, clear information, and smooth operations, I am ready to help.

One Month of My SIWES Journey It's been one month since I started my SIWES, and I'm grateful for everything I've learned so far. I first worked in the Reader's Services Unit, where I rotated through the Circulation Area, Reference Section, Research Section, Documentation, Thesis, Archives, and the Humanities & Sciences sections. I also did shelf reading and assisted library users with their questions every day. I want to sincerely thank the Head of Department, Dr. Horsfall, and the Coordinator, Dr. Jeremiah, for their guidance and support. I had a great learning experience in the unit. I am now in the Medical Library, where I am learning about medical information resources and how the unit operates. Today, I had an interesting experience. Our coordinator told us that the HOD wanted us to stay home because we had been coming to the library for the past three days. However, she asked me to represent her since she would be arriving late. I informed my group members, but only one person agreed to come with me. When the HOD arrived, she asked why only two of us were present. After we explained, she said there had been a misunderstanding. She actually meant that only those who had been coming since Monday should stay home. In the end, everything worked out well. She appreciated that we came and rewarded the two of us with 100% on our logbook reports. This experience reminded me that sometimes, simply showing up can lead to unexpected opportunities. I'm looking forward to learning even more as I continue my SIWES journey. #SIWES #LibraryScience #Learning #IndustrialTraining #Growth #Libraryandinformationscience
"The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you." — B.B. King 💡 These words perfectly describe my last two weeks as an IT student. Every day, I realize that the skills and knowledge I am gaining are things I will keep for life. I was posted to automation and information service unit which has to do with Cataloguing and classification of information materials, where I was made the group leader of my group. The first week was all about learning the basics. We had an orientation with Dr. Janet, she told us what cataloging and classification is all about, showed us three very important tools used in libraries Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) Library of Congress Classification (LCC) Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) Basically, she taught Us how libraries organize huge amounts of information so that people can actually find what they are looking for. She taught us how to use Marc record. 📚 Week 2: This week, I put that knowledge to work by cataloging real books. I worked on three interesting books: 🧠 "The Aging Mind and Brain" (edited by Nirupama) — a book about how our brains change as we grow older. 🔬 "Childhood Cancer and Nuclear Installations" (edited by Valerie Beral, Eve Roman, and Martin Bobrow) — a serious study looking at health and science. 🛰️ "Satellite Communications" ( By Sapna Katiyar) — a book all about modern technology and space communication. Even though these books were about completely different topics, the tools Dr. Janet taught me helped me group and label them correctly. These two weeks taught me that working in a library isn't just about putting books on shelves. It’s about building pathways so people can discover knowledge. Appreciation goes to Dr. Janet for the guidance! I can't wait to learn even more in the coming weeks. #LibraryScience #Learning #Internship #ProfessionalGrowth
On Monday, I finally moved from the classroom to the field! I have officially started my IT (industrial training) at Donald Ekong Library in University of PortHarcourt. My lecturer do say "student with only theoretical knowledge is like someone who has a map but has never walked the road" This week, I started walking that road 🥳. After an orientation with Mr. Stan and Dr. Jeremiah, I was assigned a task by Dr. Jeremiah to the TK and TJ sections which are the spots for Electrical and Mechanical Engineering books. I spent the week "shelf reading," which is making sure every book is in its exact right place and it's arranged according to the call number on the spine label in simple terms. The reason for "shelf reading is, if a book is misfiled or not arranged in right manner it would be lost. By organising the shelves, I'm making sure students can easily have access to the resources they need without the stress 🚀✨ #ITLife #BuildingBridges #InformationScience
