About Samson Alfred

Data Scientist | AI Engineer | Computer Vision & ML Researcher | Python • Machine Learning • Deep Learning • Data Analysis

Most AI models are built in well-resourced labs. I build them in constrained, high-stakes environments — and they still hit 97%+ accuracy. As a Data Scientist at the Nigerian Defence Academy, I've spent 4+ years turning raw, messy institutional data into machine learning systems that support real decisions. My flagship work: a computer vision system trained on under 10,000 samples that achieved state-of-the-art accuracy — proof that great AI doesn't require infinite data, just rigorous methodology. I specialize in: → Computer Vision & image recognition systems → Predictive ML models for Healthcare and FinTech → Python · TensorFlow · OpenCV · Scikit-learn · Pandas I'm currently pursuing my MSc in Data Science while building in public — sharing what I learn about applied ML, model optimization, and AI in emerging markets. 📌 Open to remote roles, research collaborations, and global opportunities. 🔗 DM me or follow for weekly insights on practical AI.

  • Grateful for an Inspiring AI Meetup 🤖 Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend the TRI AI Saturdays Community Meetup in Kaduna, and honestly, it was a great experience. What I enjoyed most was the energy in the room. We had learners, AI enthusiasts, and community members coming together to network, share ideas, discuss our goals, learn from one another, and have fun. A special thank you to Blessed Guda for the incredible lecture. The session was practical, engaging, and gave me a lot to think about as I continue building my skills in AI, Machine Learning, and Data Science. I also want to appreciate Tejumade Afonja, Founder of TRI AI, for creating and driving a community where people can come together to learn, connect, and grow. Thank you as well to CoLab Innovation Hub, TRI AI, and Google DeepMind for supporting initiatives that are making AI learning and innovation more accessible across Africa. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be part of this community, and I look forward to learning more, meeting more people, and contributing to the AI ecosystem in Africa. Keep learning. Keep building. Keep connecting. 🚀 #TRIAI #AISaturdays #GoogleDeepMind #ArtificialIntelligence #MachineLearning #DataScience #AICommunity #AIinAfrica #Kaduna

  • I’m excited to share that I’ve successfully completed the Unsupervised Learning in Python certification on DataCamp! This experience strengthened my skills in exploring patterns, clustering, and deriving insights from unlabelled datasets. Special thanks to DSN OAU for the guidance and support, and to DataCamp for a hands-on, practical learning platform. Looking forward to applying these skills in real-world projects and connecting with the vibrant data science and machine learning community in Nigeria. #DataScience #MachineLearning #Python #UnsupervisedLearning #DataCamp #DSNOAU #Analytics #AIinNigeria #MachineLearningNigeria #DataScienceNigeria #ML #ArtificialIntelligence #DeepLearning #NigerianTech #TechInNigeria #PythonProgramming #DataAnalytics #AI #BigData #DataDriven #MLCommunity

  • 🌾 From Raw Farm Data to Real Insights I recently worked on an Agricultural Farm Data Analysis project, and this was a really interesting experience for me. I started with 512 raw farm records, cleaned the data, removed duplicates, handled missing values, standardized the data, and eventually worked with 500 clean records. Using Excel, I applied functions such as IF, AND, OR, PROPER, TRIM and AVERAGE, then used Pivot Tables and Charts to explore the data and build an interactive dashboard. What I found was quite interesting: 🌱 Farms with irrigation had a higher average production — 11.44 tons compared with 9.82 tons without irrigation. 🌾 Sorghum stood out as the leading crop, with 90 farms and the highest average production of 11.61 tons. 💰 92.2% of the farms were profitable. 🚜 48 farms were identified as priority farms that may need additional support. For me, the most important part of this project wasn't just building the dashboard. It was seeing how clean data can reveal patterns that can support better decisions. Every project reminds me that data analysis is more than numbers and charts. It is about asking the right questions, finding the story in the data, and turning that story into something useful. Still learning. Still building. 🚀 #DataAnalysis #Excel #DataAnalytics #DataVisualization #Dashboard #Agriculture #BusinessIntelligence #LearningJourney
