Does ChatGPT recommend your business, or your competitor? | I get you ranked inside AI answers, then automate the enquiries | Doing AEO since 2019, 3 years before ChatGPT | Founder, Question.Marketing
Ask ChatGPT who to hire or a question about your industry. Go on, I'll wait. A name came up. It probably wasn't yours. That's my job. I get businesses named inside AI answers, then build the systems that handle the enquiries when they land. I've been working with Answer Engine Optimisation since October 2019, three years before ChatGPT existed. Not a pivot. I was writing about how machines decide who to recommend while everyone else in SEO argued about keyword density. Before that, two decades generating leads the old way. I'm not an AI bloke who discovered marketing. I'm a lead generation professional who watched the channel change. Organic traffic is falling across healthcare, financial advice and education. The assumption is it's moved to AI referrals. It hasn't. The clicks haven't migrated, they've stopped, because people get their answer in the AI chat window and never leave it. If you're not in the answer, you're not in the running, risking everything. WHAT I BUILD · AEO: getting you named and cited by ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity · Outreach: personalised prospecting at a scale a manual team can't match · Enquiries: first reply in seconds, day or night, not Monday morning · Admin: quotes, proposals, inbox triage, the paperwork nobody wants · Content: in your voice, tied to leads, not vanity metrics Done for you. Built in, handed over, your team trained to run it. Most things live in days. THE TRACK RECORD · 190,000 cold emails, 93 meetings, £100K+ closed off one campaign · 90+ meetings booked for a car dealer inside a month · £30,000/month ad spend cut while doubling lead volume · 2,000 to 45,000 monthly visitors in six months for a SaaS business · Thousands of mortgage and pension leads at under £15 each · Campaigns for Red Bull, BMW, Rolex and Hard Rock Cafe "You have changed my life. This has freed up at least half my working week." — South Yorkshire business owner "I don't need any admin staff now." Said half-jokingly WHO IT'S FOR Mid-market firms, manufacturing, engineering, private healthcare, financial advice, education. Real enquiries, real customers, where a few hours a week back shows up in the numbers and you show up as the cited answer. I turn down more businesses than I take on. If I don't think I'll make you back 10x more than I cost you, I'll say so. WHERE TO START Ask me for a free visibility baseline, what the AI models say about your business today, about your competitors. No pitch, and if the answer is "you're fine," you'll hear that. Proof that Google and ChatGPT are NOT reading the same internet. GEOforge’s panel looked at over 10 million citation events. Question.Marketing delivers AEO and GEO work in partnership with GEOforge, who produced the study, and the method is published. We are not neutral on the company. We are neutral on the numbers. On that panel, ChatGPT pointed about 0.004% of citations at YouTube: 42 videos out of roughly a million. Google AI Overviews sat around 6.63% YouTube. AI Mode around 6.34%. Same web. Different reading list. LinkedIn is the other way round for ChatGPT. A lot of the cited posts were quiet in the feed. Many get picked up weeks later, often around 35 days after publish, long after the post is “dead” socially. If your content plan assumes one social platform feeds every answer engine the same way, which engine are you actually budgeting for?
Everyone called the end of SEO. Nobody checked on the search engines. I wrote one of those obituaries myself. November 2019. “Death of the SEO industry, it needs a cleanup.” It was a prediction, not a wind-up, and I have the date on it. For fifteen years the industry had the same answer ready every time: people will always search. Nobody tested that. The sceptics aimed at the job. The defenders treated the engine as the fixed point. Both sides assumed the search engine was permanent and argued about everything else. I have published the whole thing. What I got right, what I got wrong twice, and the number in Alphabet’s own filings that almost nobody has looked at. Which side of the doorway is your business on?

Simon Young - The Budget Bodyguard AI. AEO. GEO. And an audience that actually buys. I own linkedin.com/in/aeo. Not by accident. I claimed it because Answer Engine Optimisation is where search is heading, and I was talking about it before most agencies could spell it. I've held that URL for over 10 years. Here's what that means for your brand. When your buyers stop Googling and start asking ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity who to trust, the brands that win are the ones being named by credible voices. I'm one of them. Who I am 25 years in marketing. Agency side, client side, and now Fractional CMO to businesses who want senior marketing leadership without the senior marketing salary. On LinkedIn they call me The Budget Bodyguard. I protect businesses from wasted spend, bad agencies and overpriced AI fluff. I've built a following of 43,000 people by saying the things other marketers won't. I don't just talk about AI. I build with it. Agentic sales systems, AI outbound, custom Claude workflows, the lot. When I post about this stuff, it's coming from the workshop floor, not a press release. The audience -> 43,000 followers and a full 30,000 connection network -> UK and USA, heavily weighted to decision-makers -> MDs, CEOs, Founders, Sales Directors and marketing leads -> Strong reach into UK manufacturing, automotive and industrial sectors talking AI and automation These aren't other creators watching for content ideas. They're buyers with budgets, and they follow me because I tell them what not to spend those budgets on. Why the endorsement carries weight My entire brand is built on scepticism. I spend most of my week calling out AI hype, agency waste and tools that don't earn their keep. So when I back something, people notice. An endorsement from the bloke who tells you what NOT to buy is worth ten from a cheerleader. That's the maths. What I do with brands -> Sponsored posts and content series, in my voice, on my page -> Video content showing your product doing a real job with real numbers -> Long-form articles and AEO/GEO education content that positions your brand as the answer -> Ambassador arrangements with ongoing category coverage -> Engagement mechanics (comment-trigger campaigns) that consistently outperform standard sponsored posts One rule. I don't do "delighted to announce" partner posts. Nobody believes them and they don't convert. Every partnership is anchored to ROI, because that's what my audience respects and that's what your finance director will ask about. The short version If you want a creator who reaches actual buyers, understands AI deeply enough to build with it, and owns the AEO conversation on LinkedIn, we should talk. Tell me about your brand. I'll tell you honestly whether it's a fit. Simon Young | The Budget Bodyguard linkedin.com/in/aeo | question.marketing
