About Yashvardhan Thanvi

Founder, LLMSlim (open-source LLM context compression) · 30+ merged open-source PRs (Microsoft, Meta, NVIDIA, AWS) · Ex-AI Research Intern, DRDO · NASA Space Apps 2025 Global Nominee · BIT Mesra

I write about building with AI as a working developer: cutting LLM token costs, context engineering, coding agents and MCP, RAG, and getting PRs merged in large open-source projects. Build-in-public posts with real numbers, written for developers, students and early-stage founders. What I'm building and have done → Founder of LLMSlim (llmslim.app), an open-source library that compresses context for LLM apps and agents. #11 Product of the Day on Product Hunt; part of 15 startup programs including OpenAI, Claude and MongoDB. → 30+ merged open-source PRs across Microsoft, Meta, NVIDIA NeMo, AWS, Tesla, IBM, Pydantic and OpenTelemetry. → AI/ML Research Intern at DRDO's Scientific Analysis Group (May–Jul 2026). → VBYLD 2026 national finalist (Rajasthan rank 1) and NASA Space Apps 2025 Global Nominee. → AWS Student Builder Group Leader; BCA (AI minor) at BIT Mesra, CGPA 9.35. Good fit for: AI and LLM infrastructure, developer tools, APIs and SDKs, agent platforms, and products for students and early-career engineers. How I work: I only post about products I have actually used, in my own voice, and every sponsored post is clearly labelled as a paid partnership.

  • I still can’t believe I’m writing this. I’ve officially been selected as a NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration International Space Apps Challenge 2025 Global Nominee. A moment I’ve dreamt about since I wrote my first line of code. A moment that still feels unreal. NASA Space Apps is the world’s largest space innovation competition. Tens of thousands of participants. Over 160 countries. Some of the brightest minds in AI, ML, astronomy and engineering come together for one weekend. Only a very small fraction of teams ever reach the global stage. This year, I am ONE OF THEM. REPRESENTING INDIA. Representing my vision of building AI that truly pushes science forward. My submission was an AI powered exoplanet detection system built for the challenge “A World Away: Hunting for Exoplanets with AI”. The goal was simple but massive. Make the discovery of new worlds faster, more accurate and accessible. I built an end to end platform that analyzes real NASA data from Kepler, K2 and TESS and predicts whether an object is a confirmed planet, a candidate or a false positive. What usually takes astronomers weeks can now happen in milliseconds. People often ask what made the system special. For me, it was the fusion of science, engineering and imagination. A multi mission machine learning engine that unifies data across Kepler, K2 and TESS using a custom mapping approach. A feature engineering pipeline inspired by astrophysics itself. Forty seven hand crafted features built around real orbital mechanics and transit geometry so the model reasons like an astronomer instead of guessing like a machine. Explainable AI with SHAP so every prediction reveals its logic transparently. Balanced training using leak proof SMOTE to teach the model to recognize rare planetary signals. A LightGBM workflow tuned until it reached scientific performance levels with 95.3% ROC AUC. And the entire system deployed like a real research tool with a FastAPI backend, a Streamlit scientist friendly UI, Dockerized infrastructure, batch predictions, real time explanations and a one click retraining loop. Not a notebook. Not a demo. A real production grade system ready for observatories, universities and research labs. Being recognised by NASA judges for this work is something I will carry with me forever. It validates countless hours of learning, failing, fixing and building. It tells me that I am on the right path. It motivates me to aim even higher. And it reminds me why I love this field so much. I am incredibly grateful for this honour. Incredibly proud to represent India at the global stage. And incredibly excited for everything that comes next. If you love AI, astronomy or scientific computing, I would love to connect. Here’s to building technology that helps us explore worlds beyond our own. • From 50.49 lakh aspirants to shaping national spotlight | VBYLD 2026 Nationals Out of 50.49 lakh young Indians who participated nationwide, I had the honour of being selected for the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) 2026 Nationals, held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi (9–12 January 2026). Representing Rajasthan, I secured 1st rank in my track, topping the Rajasthan contingent and standing among the top 0.0005% candidates at the national level. At this national platform, I presented my solution on the theme “Enhancing Productivity through Smart and Sustainable Agriculture”, focusing on how technology, data-driven decision making, and sustainability can directly improve farmer productivity, farm incomes, climate resilience, and food security. The most validating part of this journey was the strong appreciation my solution received from senior national leadership, Union Ministers, and top policymakers. I was deeply humbled to interact with Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Hon’ble Union Minister for Agriculture, who personally appreciated the solution, asked me to meet him again, and shared his contact details to take the discussion forward. Equally encouraging was the feedback from ML Jat, Director General, ICAR- Indian Council of Agricultural Research, who praised the approach and invited further engagement. The journey began with a proud send-off ceremony in Rajasthan, where I received blessings from Bhajanlal Sharma CMO Rajasthan, Col Rajyavardhan Rathore, and Srinivas Voruganti Sir, Chief Secretary Rajasthan, which set the tone for the responsibility ahead. I also had enriching interactions with Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, and a deeply insightful dinner discussion at the residence of Arjun Ram Meghwal, where ideas on governance, youth leadership, and nation building were discussed at length. A defining moment was attending the address of Narendra Modi, whose words reaffirmed that India’s journey towards a Viksit Bharat will be powered by youth-led innovation and solutions rooted in real-world impact. The dialogue was further strengthened by powerful sessions with #AjitDoval, Anand Kumar, Shubhanshu Shukla, Prashanth Nair, and Palki Sharma. Beyond policy and innovation, this journey gifted me lifelong friends and collaborators from every corner of India. A special mention to my teammates Dr. Chandra Bhan Jhorar and Ms. Vatsal Tyagi for their constant support, and to Mridul Somani from the Rajasthan contingent for the camaraderie and shared pride. My heartfelt gratitude to MyGov India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, all organisers, mentors, Pallavi Jain Govil Mam, Raksha Nikhil Khadse Mam and other dignitaries. Grateful for the recognition. Energized by the responsibility. Committed to building a stronger farming future for India. #VBYLD2026 #ViksitBharat #YouthLeadership #SmartAgriculture #SustainableIndia #Rajasthan #InnovationForIndia #MyGov #BharatMandapam
