Walked into GISEC GLOBAL 2026 as a student. Walked out with conversations I did not expect to have for another five years. Had a direct conversation with Kunkka Zhai, Chief Security Officer at Huawei Cloud, about where AI security and cloud security are actually heading — not the conference version, the real version. Then spent an hour with Mousa Nassar, Solutions Architect at Amazon Web Services (AWS), breaking down what it actually takes to break into the industry, what certifications open doors versus collect dust, and what separates candidates who get noticed from the ones who do not. The answer was not "get more certifications." It was build things, communicate them clearly, and position yourself as someone who is already thinking about the problems the industry has not fully solved yet. That landed differently given the work I have been doing lately around LLM security and enterprise AI monitoring. The problem space is real. The gap in tooling is real. And the conversation about it at the leadership level is happening right now. Biggest takeaway from the day: you can learn an enormous amount online. But you learn something entirely different when you walk up to someone who has spent a decade solving the problem and ask them how they actually do it. Passed my AWS Cloud Practitioner exam today. 🎉 Honestly didn't think I'd be saying that a month ago. Most of my study sessions happened in the same coffee shop in Rabat. Same seat, same order, same background noise. Between that and daily gym sessions, I somehow got through 13+ hours of cloud content, four full practice exams, and more flashcards than I want to count. Some days I studied 4 hours. Some days I did 45 minutes and called it a win. Some days I questioned the whole thing entirely. But I showed up to that coffee shop anyway.
