  • Success is harder for those who don't have leverage. Some inherit connections. Others inherit capital. Many start with neither. That's why building skills, relationships, and credibility is often the first win before the big win.

  • The biggest sales mistake I've noticed has nothing to do with closing. It happens much earlier. I've seen people spend hours writing the perfect pitch. But they spend only a few minutes trying to understand the person they're messaging. That's backwards. Whether you're generating leads, setting appointments, or supporting customers, one principle stays the same: People respond better when they feel understood. Before reaching out, I ask myself: What challenge might this person be facing? Why would this matter to them today? How can I make this conversation useful instead of promotional? A good conversation doesn't begin with a pitch. It begins with understanding. That's the difference between sending messages and creating opportunities.

  • I’m learning that getting a response from a lead is not always about sending more messages. When I started paying more attention to lead generation and appointment setting, I thought consistency meant following up again and again. But I'm beginning to understand something different. Sometimes, the problem isn't the number of follow-ups. It is the message. If the first message doesn't give someone a reason to respond, sending the same thing three more times probably won't change much. So I'm learning to slow down and ask: Did I actually understand what this person needs? Am I communicating clearly? Am I making the conversation about them, or about getting the appointment? I'm still learning and improving this part of the process. But one thing I'm realizing is that good appointment setting starts with a good conversation. Not just a good script. What has your experience been with following up with leads?
