Can we please stop making follow-ups sound like a hostage negotiation? 😭 “Dear Sir/Ma’am, I hope you are doing well. Just wanted to follow up on my previous message. Kindly let me know your thoughts.” SIR. You can just say hi. 😭 Your client is a human being. You are also, allegedly, a human being. Talk like one. If you had a fun conversation with them before, don’t suddenly turn into a corporate NPC the moment you’re following up. “Heyyy, did we lose you somewhere?” “Still thinking about this or should I stop bothering you?” “Okay I promise this is my last follow-up… unless you reply. 👀” Sometimes THAT works better. And no, I’m not saying be unprofessional. I’m saying don’t confuse professionalism with sounding robotic. A huge part of sales is communication. And communication isn’t just about choosing the “right” words. It’s knowing when to be serious, when to joke, when to push, when to give someone space and when to simply remind them that you’re still here. I’ve actually had clients compliment me specifically on my follow-ups and how I keep conversations engaging. And honestly? I don’t have some magical 17-step follow-up sequence. I just try to remember there’s a person on the other side of the screen. So yes, follow up. Follow up again if it makes sense. Be PERSUASIVE. Be persistent. But please... don’t let your CRM personality take over your actual personality. 😭

A friend of mine recently had a really disappointing experience with Zeekhay Labs, and honestly, it made me question how some companies handle their hiring processes. During the initial interview, my friend was given very clear indications that they had been selected. They were told that the contract would be shared by Monday or Tuesday, and even had discussions around targets and job expectations. Everything sounded pretty much finalized. Then, unexpectedly, another interview was scheduled. That interview itself wasn't the issue. Companies are absolutely allowed to have multiple rounds or reassess candidates. The problem is the lack of transparency and communication throughout the process. If you're not sure about a candidate, that's completely okay. If there are more interview rounds, communicate that clearly. If the decision isn't final, don't give someone the impression that they've already been selected. Candidates are people too. They're often putting other opportunities on hold, mentally preparing for a new role, and making decisions based on the information you give them. A simple “the hiring process isn't finalized yet” is much better than giving someone a strong yes and then suddenly turning it into a no at the very end. And honestly, companies should remember that interviews aren't just candidates being evaluated by companies. Candidates are evaluating companies too. Professionalism goes both ways. #Hiring #Recruitment #JobSearch #WorkplaceCulture #CandidateExperience #LinkedIn Zeekhay Labs
