About Andy Vitale

I have led design through shifts in technology, business, and scale across healthcare, financial services, ecommerce, and SaaS. The work has ranged from consumer products to enterprise platforms and the systems behind them. AI is central to that work, shaping the products themselves and the way organizations build them. At Taxwell, I lead product design across TaxAct and Drake Software and the company’s AI Center of Excellence, driving AI enablement across 18 business areas. TaxAct and Drake support tens of millions of tax returns each year for more than 90,000 tax professionals and 3 million DIY filers. My work covers new product development and core platform modernization across professional and consumer tax, including the TaxAct Claude Connector and an agentic product-development pipeline. At 3M, I built the Healthcare Business Group’s first multidisciplinary design team and clinical NLP and population health products where design decisions had clinical consequences, including a population health platform that identified $1 billion in opportunities to reduce avoidable spending and improve quality of care. At Truist, I helped the company navigate the largest U.S. banking merger since the 2008 financial crisis and shape its COVID-19 response. At Rocket, I led design, research, content, and brand across consumer, B2B, and enterprise products and helped evolve the company beyond mortgage, with our work contributing billions in closed loan volume. As Chief Design Officer at Constant Contact, I led product modernization and an activation turnaround, using generative AI to modernize marketing technology for millions of small businesses and nonprofits. I have built my career creating environments where people are challenged and inspired to do the best work of their careers. I also teach in Kent State University’s graduate UX program, where I developed its first course on AI tools in user experience.

  • AI strategy and execution, in the same room. On July 15, AI Women Leaders is making that happen in Irving, TX. The builders, the backers, the decision makers. The women shaping where AI goes next, together for one night to move the work forward. I'm speaking about how designing AI products has changed, because work doesn't move in a straight line. It loops between teams and functions, between strategy and execution, and every loop is where things hold together or fall apart. That's where the outcome gets shaped. AI is reshaping those loops, the inputs, the speed. We'll follow with a live Q&A. Then, 7-Eleven's internal AI team will take you inside how AI is being deployed across one of the biggest retail operations in the world. If you build, ship, or invest in AI products, this one's worth your Wednesday night. Wednesday, July 15, 6:00 to 8:30 PM CT 7Next innovation facility, Irving, TX Space is limited Free for AIWL members Register here: https://luma.com/tu69w4qs

  • Right now, every product team is racing to put AI into what they build. The harder question, the one that actually decides whether any of it lasts, is whether people trust it. The tools have changed. The expectations have changed. But most companies are still running design with a playbook written for a completely different era. That's the conversation I'm looking forward to at the 2026 Global Product Leadership Festival 2026, during a fireside chat about Design Leadership in the AI Era. It's a real conversation, not a keynote. We'll talk through the questions a lot of us are sitting with. What does it take to build AI-first products people actually trust? How do design leaders keep teams human-centered when the tools move this fast? And where does human creativity still win? 🗓 Tuesday, August 11, 2026 🕘 7:50 PM IST (10:20 AM ET / 7:20 AM PT) 💻 Virtual If you're rethinking what design leadership looks like from here, join the conversation. • AI has made it cheaper to turn an idea into a working thing. That changes the question every product team is asking: 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘦 𝘥𝘰 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦, 𝘴𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘢𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦? The tempting answer is a black box. Do the work out of sight, and hand back a result. It demos beautifully. It also turns the person from the author of the work into the approver of it, signing off on something they never saw built. I think the products that earn lasting trust will hold four principles at once: 1️⃣ Meet people where they are 2️⃣ Make the complex feel simple 3️⃣ Treat speed as the feature 4️⃣ Give people visibility into what is happening. That's the standard I think AI products should be held to.
