  • The United Nations Global Risk 2026 Report is out. Its shows that the risk landscape has become more complex and more dynamic. Political risks moved to the center. The risk of large-scale war was seen as especially prominent and increasingly imminent. In fact 36 per cent of respondents now expect it within one year. Concerns about AI and frontier technologies, including the risk of power concentration, rose sharply. Climate change inaction remains the single most important of all 28 risks, though environmental risks as a category slightly decreased in perceived importance.

  • Artificial Intelligence is transforming Europe. This European Commission mandated-mandated independent expert review reveals deep divides between well-funded private-sector innovation and under-resourced public research, alongside stark geographic imbalances among Member States and overlooked potential for AI in social-good and environmental initiatives. It calls for significantly increased public R&D investment, agile regulatory frameworks, targeted reskilling programs and strengthened digital infrastructure. Kudos: Ewa Luger & Marianthe Stavridou

  • Do you know that feeling when you wake up on a monday morning knowing you were part of something truely beautiful over the weekend? That is how I feel today. I have just returned from Florence, where WWF ’s Innovation Team gathered its Wisdom Council for the first time. We met beneath a willow tree in the Italian countryside, with time to listen, reflect and explore some of the difficult questions facing WWF, our societies and the living world. I will write more about the gathering once I have collected my thoughts during the week. A warm thank you to my fellow wisdom council members, Vanessa Armendáriz , Hatim Eltayeb, Rahul Chandran, Roger Swaving, Ada Parris , Florencia Estrade and Lan Mercado. And huge kudos to Anne Kathrin Merkle , Kate Gardner and everyone at WWF who brought us together and created such a thoughtful beginning.
