And just like that we have another HUGE release from Google DeepMind! Two brand-new Gemini models have officially landed to help startups scale agents and secure code at speed. In my conversations with founders every day, the top two priorities always boil down to time and security within their tech stack. These new releases tackle both head-on. Here is a breakdown of what just dropped: 🔹 Gemini 3.8 Flash: Our most intelligent "workhorse" model yet, delivering significant leaps over 3.7 Flash across software engineering, specialized domain reasoning, and multi-step agentic workflows. 🔹 Built to Work Harder: On ambiguous or high-friction tasks, 3.8 Flash actively verifies hypotheses and executes extra reasoning steps, with dynamic effort controls to let you balance token consumption against peak thinking. 🔹 Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber: A custom post-trained variant delivering top CyberGym benchmark performance on par with Claude Mythos and GPT Cyber, but at a Flash price point. 🔹 Agentic Video Understanding: Rather than analyzing video frame-by-frame, Gemini can now dynamically scan, listen to, and retrieve specific video segments or audio, optimising quality while drastically lowering costs for long-form multimodal inputs. 🔹 Cost-Effective Scaling: At $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens, 3.8 Flash maintains price parity with 3.7 Flash introductory pricing through the end of the year. 🔹 The Fairwind Program: A dedicated initiative giving governments and trusted partners access to 3.8 Flash Cyber to protect critical infrastructure and national security. Where can you start building with them? Gemini 3.8 Flash is rolling out right now in Google Antigravity, and via API in Google AI Studio and Android Studio. Agentic Video Understanding is also supported across Gemini 3.8 Flash, 3.7 Flash, 3.6 Flash, and 3.5 Flash Lite. Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers can also access 3.8 Flash in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Google Search.
