About Erica Ylimäki
Head of Marketing @MedicubeX
Leading marketing for MedicubeX, the most innovative medtech startup from Finland. This is as close as I can get to saving lives without being a healthcare professional, as MedicubeX's mission is to shift healthcare systems' focus from reactive to proactive prevention of cardiovascular diseases – even before one experiences symptoms. MedicubeX eHealth Station™ gives anyone the chance to do a non-invasive health check in 5-10 minutes (my current fastest time is 3:48) ⏱️ Before joining MedicubeX, I did SaaS SEO for the best customer feedback and reviews company, Trustmary, in multiple languages between 2020-2025. The work we did brought in users from organic channels from over 170 countries, and paying customer from over 80 countries. My educational background in intercultural communication, linguistics, and teaching. Enthusiastic knitter 🧶, even in meetings. Mom to two strong-willed daughters. Never not talking about things that I feel strongly about.

All posts on LinkedIn”Is this the place where I can measure my health? My colleague was raving about it” was the most common first sentence on day two at the Logistics fair in Finland. After working in the social proof industry for nearly a decade at Trustmary before switching to medtech, it’s fun to see that recommendations and social proof are hugely influential in everything we do. Including health-related things. Today, I had the pleasure of working alongside Pia Raukola from Terveystalo and showing how the MedicubeX Ltd eHealth Station works 🙌🏻 #occupationalhealth #healthcheck #healthcareinnovation

Too many people are unaware of their own blood pressure numbers 🥶 There are national and even EU-level programs, like the EU Safe Hearts Plan and the UK’s CVD Modern Service Framework (MSF), aiming to get a bigger portion of the population to measure their blood pressure yearly. One of CVD MSF’s goals is to find the missing millions, meaning the people who already need blood pressure medication. 2. Having high blood pressure doesn’t feel like anything 🤯 I was surprised to learn, first of all, that having high BP is mostly symptomless. Then I was shocked to learn that so many people walk around completely unaware that their BP is high. As high blood pressure doesn’t typically happen overnight, but over an extended period, you can feel completely fine. Until you suddenly don’t. 3. Low blood pressure does NOT equal great cholesterol I’m in my early 30s, but when people my age in two separate friend groups started talking about their cholesterol levels, I started to wonder about mine. I foolishly assumed that because my blood pressure is low, my overall cholesterols would be perfect. 🤡 Spoiler alert: These are unrelated. My cholesterols were not ideal despite my low BP……. 4. Weight fluctuates when you fly ✈️ Whenever I fly to conferences and use the eHealth Station™ there, my weight is noticeably higher than when I just commute to the office. I’ve learned that this is just water retention, but it’s been an interesting observation. 5. Mental health and CVDs are linked 💔 Studies show that people with severe mental illness, like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depression have 2× the cardiovascular mortality rate compared to the general population. 6. Regulation is a key part of the job, and for a very good reason Every single claim and copy needs extra careful research as they need to follow strict compliance standards related to medtech products. After all, medtech is about people's health. Shifting from "move fast and break things" to a very regulated environment has been an interesting shift to say the least. However, I’m very grateful on a personal level that healthtech and medtech companies are only permitted to say things that are based on facts and research. Can’t wait to summarize my learnings after one year at MedicubeX Ltd 💙 And a gentle reminder: If you haven't checked your blood pressure or other vital signs recently, consider this your friendly sign to do so 👀 🩺 Were you surprised by any of these? #KnowYourNumbers #HeartHealth #StartupMarketing #MedTech #EUSafeHeartsPlan #CVDMSF #MissingMillions
