Freelance Tech Journalist + Tech Storyteller • AI for DevOps book out now! • DevEx Advocate + Engineering Leadership + Developer Productivity • B2B Tech Analyst • Awesome Panel Host + Event Host for Hire
I'm a tech journalist. Through writing, marketing, and live event hosting, panel hosting and podcast hosting, I help to share the stories where culture, business, technology and the developer experience collide. I've been a working writer since 2003. The last few years have been all about how orgs are trying to increase developer productivity, via platform engineering and generative AI. Right now I'm "translating" the value of/analyzing the impact of generative AI / genAI, cloud native infrastructure and mindset, developer productivity / platform engineering and measuring it all, tech layoffs and tech recruitment, open source communities, developer experience / DevRel / developer advocacy, SRE / site reliability engineering, progressive delivery, tech ethics, diversity and inclusion, accessibility, DevOps and agile company culture. I am a strong flexible work, a11y, and DEIB advocate. I'm a New Jersey native who's spent post-uni life living and working in great European cities — Madrid, Barcelona, and now London. I've both UK and US passports, and EU right to work. A funny af working mom, consummate networker and question asker, I'm delighted that my various projects allow me to work from anywhere and to learn and teach new things every day. ‘Inimitable’ ‘a true force of nature’ ‘bubbly...thoughtful...respectful… a little bit sweary’ ‘the one journo I can trust’ ‘I love reading your work. I always feel like part of the story.’ ‘One of the best moderated webinars I've seen.’ ‘Connector of people, but not afraid to throw a pebble in the water.’ 'Incredible at explaining really complex tech in a user friendly way, uncovering what really matters for the user, how it would help real companies with real time savings.' Always interested in more paid writing, event hosting, panel hosting and mentoring gigs. I prioritize highlighting voices marginalized by our industry, so make my life easier and prioritize diversity and inclusion on your stage and in your office if you'd like me to cover your event, org or technology. I bring 15 years’ experience in tech storytelling including: ✓ feature writing, tech journalism, B2B blogging (Google hearts my writing as long, easy to understand, keyword friendly) ✓ B2B tech marketing, content marketing, digital marketing ✓ public speaker, panel host, podcast host, webinar host, online event host, event host ✓ messaging and branding strategy, rebranding, LinkedIn marketing

Releasing my longest book yet! Getting code safely, securely to prod, with AI, sure is a bigger, more interesting problem – especially when most teams have never gotten DevOps best practices down. Be the first to get a copy, exclusively via KodeKloud! https://lnkd.in/edWNnXaH Thanks to everyone interviewed/cited: Charity Majors, Kelsey Hightower, Grady Booch, Dana Lawson, Dave Farley, Michael Privat, Michael Forrester, Theo Valmis, Tarak Bach Hamba, Charlotte Fleming, Steve Fenton, Nimesha Jinarajadasa, Phanidhar (Phani) Koganti, Jason Davenport, Mayank Agarawal, Rodrigue Schäfer, Kinjal Vaishnav, Ben Lloyd Pearson, Gergely Orosz, Asaf Savich, Ryan Peirce, Grace Torany, Laura Tacho, Andrew Hoskins, Nana Janashia, Gustavo Melki Portaluri, Lizzie Matusov, Taylor Bruneaux Could’ve been longer; Do Read… My six key takeaways from the book: 1. The bottleneck has moved. (TBF did it? Or were we always focusing on the wrong things?) 2. AI is an amplifier of everything. (The good, the bad, and the oh dear god.) 3. Guardrails not gates. (Well gates sometimes.) 4. Ops turns proactive, with the help of AI. (Hopefully reducing burnout.) 5. Multi-agent systems are distributed systems.) 6. You can’t improve what you don’t measure. (Too recent to be included, a mere 31% of teams LeadDev interviewed are measuring their massive AI spend.) Cheers also to: Marconi Darmawan, Karl Baz, Nathen Harvey and the team at DORA, Michael Hill and the team at LeadDev, Maddie Hampson and the team at Storyblok, Thoughtworks, IDC, Octopus Deploy, Gartner, Chainguard, McKinsey, DX, GitClear and Faros AI.
Oh my lanta and holy guacamole! Just realized I surpassed 25,000 followers on this here social medium, which makes me sound like a baby MLM, a mid-sized cult or a week-old developer agent. Thank you for your trust and your traffic – it's an uphill battle for us human writers these days. May I continue to bring you thoughtful interviews and reporting on engineering teams and adorable pics of office dogs. And may you continue to teach me from your unique experiences in work, life and more dogs! And, in this time of great and rapid change, may the tech industry once again become proud of its fails and proud to talk about how we fix them – because when things are going to break at this scale, we've got to share solutions! Oh, and trans rights and Black lives still really matter, obviously. Happy Friday, y'all!
You can't control what AI says about you... wait, can you? This latest on LeadDev was a fascinating and rare overlap between my journalism around engineering leadership and search engine (nay AI engine?) marketing. Because wow us marketeers have spent the last ten years producing so much content thinking longevity across a domain + recency of content is the key to success but now AI is flipping that on its head. Fascinating to talk with Dominik Angerer about the recent research out of Storyblok. Ownership of content is becoming more of a technical problem than a marketing one, so I asked Syntasso's Daniel Bryant about whether platform teams should become stewards of content too. And then I spoke with ALKEME Insurance's Ryan Deeds on governance. It's a different topic than I usually write about but super relevant for any company older than a year. https://lnkd.in/eJ6Qz_Jx
