About Kristin Austin, Ed.D.

🌟Naturally caffeinated, inclusion-centered professional and faculty member offering a robust and diverse 22+ year career palette in higher education, non-profit, and student affairs-adjacent roles. 🌟 🎯 I thrive in, and add value to, organizations that: ✦ are working their way toward cultures of equity, inclusion, and belonging ✦ embrace diversity in thought, perspective, and background ✦ are open to ongoing unlearning, learning, and relearning ✦ emphasize cultural humility over cultural competence ✦ are willing to disrupt systems and structures in a way that is messy and painful, yet rewarding and... dare I say.... 💡fun!! 💜 My favorite populations often identify as: ✦ college students and their families/support systems ✦ those in college or career transition ✦ social outcasts, awkward, or quirky ✦ having visible or invisible disabilities ✦ neurodiverse ✦ creatives ❤️ I love to: ✦ teach college students ✦ learn from college students ✦ retain college students ✦ try new tacos 💭 I question: ✦ how someone like me became a parent to 3 amazing kiddos ✦ how to grow a love for exercising ✦ when I can get back into my pointe shoes ✦ myself on how I can use my privilege to help others

  • Heyyyyyy Rewriting the Code!!! 💙 Tomorrow is our big day!! It’s RTC’s Annual Virtual Career Summit, and I can’t wait to see all 2,400+ of you! 😍 To get you ready, I’ve taken the liberty of compiling some pretty critical lists: List of things you need to show up: 1. YOU!! List of things you don’t need to show up: 1. A brutally uncomfortable blazer 👎🏾 2. Shoes for standing in multiple career fair lines for hours 🙄 3. A strategy for escaping awkward small talk #IYKYK 🫠 4. The ability to hear someone over 400+ people talking at once 😮‍💨 5. A conversation with someone wearing entirely too much cologne 😣 6. A receipt documenting the financial damage you incurred just to attend 😭 You don’t need any of it. No flights. No hotels. No convention center chaos. Just beautiful, you! 🫶🏾 See you tomorrow! P.S. Get that notes app ready because you know Jade Walters is about to have us taking screenshots of our own notes!! #RewritingTheCode #VCS26

  • Happy Global Day After VCS Day, everyone! (yes, it's a thing) Rewriting the Code hosted our Annual Virtual Career Summit, and let me tell you, it was a DAY!!! 😍 💜 Between Jaylyn's hilarity about LinkedIn Witness Protection (you had to be there), watching Rasheedah coach a student through role and goal clarity, Jade Walters' keynote, or Emma Conner easing concerns around AI in Liberty Mutual Insurance's hiring process, and so, so much more, VCS was best-C-S (too much?) To our members who showed up to learn, connect, and make moves, and to our corporate partners who showed up to invest in their futures, and to our RTC team who worked their tails off to bring this experience to life, THANK YOU! 💜 Now, somebody go check on Sammi Hermanski, PMP, our conductor. Because I know she needs a nap. 😂 #RewritingTheCode #VCS26 #BestTeamEver #CareerAccess #TechRecruiting #EarlyCareerTalent
