Tester | Content creator | Leading you towards being a better tester.
I discovered testing 20 years ago. I wanted to be a developer, but became a tester. I never regretted that I chose this career path. My background is in science. I did a PhD in Automation and Robotics. I find testing very similar to science. You perform experiments, gather the results, draw conclusions, share the results with others. I guess this is why testing is so appealing to me. I like digging into details and finding a way to show conditions under which software doesn't work. Testing is about learning. Learning about: - IT systems - processes - people - interactions - business - technologies You put all these points together in the service of finding out what is the true state of the system under test. Then, you describe what you found out and report it to people who need this information to make informed decisions about the software that you tested. That's what testing is to me. Sometimes, during testing, I use tools. I don't use the term "test automation". I prefer to say it's "automation in testing". I use automation to do different parts of my work. This way my testing if better and more effective. Throughout all these years I touched so many IT systems... I tested: - billing systems, - customer support systems, - CRM systems, - e-commerce systems to name just a few categories. I believe I could test anything. Of course, if I don't know the system or technologies involved in testing it, I would have to learn it, but that's what testers do, right? They learn, ask questions, observe, analyze, draw conclusions and learn again. That's why when I have to learn new areas, I'm rather excited instead of being terrified. Over 2 years ago, I discovered Linkedin: - place to share my knowledge and experience with others - place to build by personal brand. So far, I learned how to write (hopefully good) content about testing. I gathered - almost 10000 followers - over 1.5 million post impressions As a content creator: - I'm currently building my website to publish longer form pieces. - I'm working on an email based course about testing. Well, that's who I am as a professional tester. If you think I can help you in any way, please contact me via Linkedin DM. I'm always ready to help.

You wrote some automation code with AI? Cool! Make sure you review the code thoroughly. If you don't, you don't know if it's good. But wait! How will you review the code if you don't have programming skills? Hmmm, it seems you must learn how to code to be able to control what AI does. Some people say you don't have to learn to code as AI will automate for you. This is bullshit. If you do it like this, you'll end up with unreadable, unmaintainable code. This means a lot of trouble and costs. First, learn how to code well. Then, use AI to help you with automation in testing.
How do you call a tester who doesn't use automation? - Manual Tester How do you call a tester who writes automation code ? - Automation Tester How do you call a tester who generates automation code using tools ( eg. AI?)? - Automation Automation Tester??? 🤔
Why do you use 'QA' instead of 'testing' or 'tester'? Almost all testing related posts use 'QA' and then from the post you see it's about testing. Why, oh why??? Are you afraid of saying you're a tester? Are you ashamed of being a tester? Does 'QA' add something to your self-esteem?
