10 minutes into the event, I was supposed to be receiving my Vice President badge. Instead…., I spent the first ten minutes of the event feeling terribly sick 🤒 Of all the ways I had imagined that morning beginning, this wasn’t one of them.😅 We were conducting ENTRESPARK 2026, a collaboration between our Computer Society of India (CSI) - SRMIST Vadapalani Student Chapter and EDC SRMIST, Vadapalani. And I had plans and ideas to conduct and take care of the flow of this event But that morning, I needed to pause. I took some rest, prayed, and asked God for strength. Once I felt better, I returned. And slowly, the day became something I’m really glad I got to make and experience. I was talking to juniors about their ideas. Listening to how they wanted to turn them into prototypes. And sitting alongside my seniors on the judging panel. That last part felt especially special ;) During our InnoVenture challenge, the first-year students had just 15 minutes to research, develop an idea, and prepare their pitch. One team even managed to put together a PPT within those 15 minutes. Seeing what they came up with in that short window of time gave us plenty to discuss. I enjoyed hearing the thinking behind their ideas as much as the pitches themselves. Congratulations to the teams who stood out! 👏 🏆 Team VDK — Winners 🥈 Team Nexus — Runners-up ⭐ Team BiteClub — Special Mention And somewhere between those pitches, judging, coordinating, and chit-chatting with seniors, I got to enjoy being part of the team. Collaborating with EDC SRM was one of my favourite parts of the day. Working together also meant getting to know the people behind the roles. And yes, I eventually received my badge from our chief guest, Ms. Ranjitha R. Thank you to our professors, the CSI and EDC teams, and every student who participated. Above everything, I thank God for giving me the strength I prayed for. ———————-🛩️——————🛩️—————————- When I look at the badge, I’ll remember more than just receiving it. I’ll remember the juniors explaining their ideas, the conversations with seniors, and the laughter we shared after a difficult start. the badge and event was the moment I had planned for. and the rest of the day gave the whole story. written by Magdaleena R 👩💻 Vice President ,Computer Society of India (CSI) - SRMIST Vadapalani #CSI #ENTRESPARK2026 #StudentLeadership #Entrepreneurship #SRMIST
If you’re an engineering student, don’t spend four years chasing deadlines and leave your curiosity behind. Assignments. Records. Exams. Repeat. When the next submission takes up all your attention, the things you wanted to explore can keep getting pushed to “after this semester.” I’m in my second year, and I’m learning to make room for those things now. Through workshops, internship projects, and getting stuck along the way, here are 7 lessons I’m carrying into this Engineer’s Day: 1/ Start with “I don’t understand this yet.” Ask the basic question. Admitting what you don’t know gives you room to learn. 2/ Ask. Give yourself a chance to receive. Reach out for help, guidance, or an opportunity. Don’t assume the answer is no. 3/ Have a life outside your assignments. Play a sport, take a walk, or enjoy a hobby. Make time to breathe between deadlines. 4/ Learn beyond the syllabus. Use free resources to learn a skill, then build something that solves a real problem. 5/ Practise working with people. Use projects and club activities to practise listening, explaining ideas, and finding common ground. 6/ Build professional habits early. Dress neatly, be punctual, respect others, and follow through on your commitments. 7/ Protect your curiosity. Keep asking how and why. Learning continues long after your degree ends. —————-🛩️——————🛩️——————-🛩️———- At a recent AI workshop, a repository I couldn’t initially understand became a projecg I could build and show. Asking questions and working through it step by step ,helped me get there. and Happy Engineer’s Day to all the engineers learning, asking, building, and trying again.🤝👩💻🛩️ #EngineersDay #EngineeringStudent #LearningByDoing #StudentDevelopment #LifelongLearning
