Product Leader & Coach | Helping Product Leaders & Execs navigate conflict, build resilience | Certified WHY Coach | Italy’s #1 for Product Management Leaders (Favikon)
I help leaders figure out why they lead, and then lead from there. I'm Marco, a product leader and leadership coach. I'm also a WHY Coach, certified in Simon Sinek's methodology. I've spent about 15 years leading product and people teams across Europe, and I still do. That means I coach from the inside: I know what it's like to make hard calls with half the information and a team looking at you for answers. I write about resilient leadership, navigating ambiguity, and handling conflict without losing the relationship. My audience is made up of senior product and marketing professionals and fellow coaches, people who are already good at their craft and want to get better at leading and influencing. I'm the founder of Rafted (rafted.eu). If you're a brand that wants to reach this audience in an honest, human way, let's talk.

I’m leading product teams since 15 years. I wouldn’t wanna lead the new Tesla Roadster. Great show last week on Thursday, when Elon Musk unveiled their latest invention: a ‘flying car’. And everyone is screaming ‘amazing innovation!’ I do not believe so. Innovation is a creative idea that ends up solving a real problem for real people. Like the 3-point seat belt from Volvo, 1959. Boring to look at. Still saves lives in almost every car today. And while Tesla Roadster is a great concept: → Vertical loop ramps exist only in my boys’ Hot Wheels toys → The thrusters are out in 5 seconds for a gimmick one time drag → In a car accident it could burst like a giant pressure cooker What problem is it trying to solve? Not real every day driving ones. Today it cannot actually even go on real streets. So if I were the product leader of that car, I would have failed even the basic idea of technology: to make meaningfully better people’s lives. So maybe we will have flying cars in the future. But today it’s just a show. Which flying car did you cheer for once?
Yesterday I was in the office: → My first meeting started 8:15am in the car → I arrived at 8:52am because of the traffic in Milan → Colleagues around me were in calls with other people sitting next to them → Had a free (bad) lunch in the canteen → Got back in the traffic for 1 hour to drive home I didn't hate it. But I missed preparing my own food, having a break for exercises, picking up my 4 year old son at school. He would run to me screaming ‘papàaaaa’ and jump to hug me I wonder how 5 years ago I was giving that up 5 days a week, with my older son. I never decided to give up the food, the break, the pickup. They just went and now it is visible. What did you give up without noticing?
In 2020 I had to rebuild trust after a 33% miss. Now I just asked Claude. And the advice is good. I joined a new team after a launch that missed its forecast. Sales unhappy, operations unhappy, R&D unhappy. We would need to develop 9 new products and improving 56 features to recover the situation. The problem was that trust was now broken. Why would → R&D trust us the requirements would be right → Operations trust us we would hit the forecast → Sales trust us we would deliver a competitive product? It wasn’t easy to make the right calls at that time: which products to prioritize and how to convince R&D to trust us again. But now… We have AI! So I asked Claude how to rebuild that trust and it answered: → Own the failure → Listen first → Reconnect R&D's effort → Co-create the relaunch plan → Deliver small, visible wins I would have given a similar advice. It's good. And I still don't think it would have worked. Because AI can write the advice but it won’t be in the room when R&D hears the first bad news. It will lose nothing if the forecast is missed again. I don't know if the words I used in 2020 were the best ones. But the words were never the hard part. What cost you something and won someone's trust back?
