Note: currently full time at verascient outsource think not accepting clients Outsource Think is an AI strategy and engineering partner for companies who want to ensure they're best equipped to be using AI in the next 5, 10, 20 years. First, we identify: a) What fires are burning right now (or where your manpower is going) b) The 80/20 AI use cases that can deliver results. We quantity the potential return where we can. Then we hand over a report & roadmap detailing what we'd focus on and how. Use this for your own team, or we can: - Up-skill your team so they understand how this new world works and how to iterate on their own workflows day-to-day. We really love teaching and seeing the dramatically higher quality outputs & shared progress from teams who understand and can improve their AI systems themselves. - Take responsibility for those identified use cases, and build workflow automations, internal AI tools, context systems, and robust software around your business. - Where potential return cannot be quantified, our talented engineers build alongside your team at an hourly rate. However, our talented engineers really shine when it comes time to build robust software and AI workflows ourselves. We are experienced developers from before the age of AI, who use AI-assisted engineering to ship 100x faster than incumbents. All the while taking responsibility for the results of the system. We have an incredibly well-oiled internal process to ship software and agent skills to your team. While we belief the future of business is driven by AI, it's made possible by real humans with a smile on their face who shake hands. Or have a frown on their face on that particularly tough Monday. Relationships, high-level strategy, and questions of risk vs reward are just some of the things that we believe must always remain in the hands of us humans. Don't outsource think to AI. Outsource us. We think. And we both let AI do the rest.

"Pleased to announce I've started a new position at.." No come on we don't have time for that. We move at post-human speed around here. We talk in /caveman speak over linkedin waffling. No but really this is my first "Pleased to announce" post! That's a cause for celebration somehow? Anyway. Last month I started doing a bit of work for Verascient, and have now joined the team! Great people, energy, brains, and forced cozy corner (monitors and power extension leads coming soon). Stoked to be a part of this team as we take it the moon! Today the internet is on fire. And we're just a few model releases away from every piece of software, every website being compromised. Repeatedly. The highlights: - 2 critical bugs in Php were unveiled before the patch. 1.5 million sites affected. All versions 5 and above. Government sites etc. - a 10.0 CVSS was discovered in self-hosted enterprise gitlab - which has been there since 2014. - Litellm got hijacked - a credential stealer and remote access Trojan gets delivered right to your door just with you installing it. - Opencode got hacked and cli api keys leaked. Millions in damages just right there. - Indias biggest bank lost tons of highly sensitive customer info - currently up for grabs on dark web apparently. - A massive cert authority was found to be using 3 extremely weak private keys- potentially having leading to site impersonation and password stealing/phishing and many other ways this could have been exploited. - And there's even more news, Plex hacked. Safeway. Etc. This is just Wednesday's news on a fine Thursday morning. Looking forward to tomorrow.
Anthropic just finished moving their entire monorepo off Git. Let's just think about that for a second. Git is still going to be around for a very long time, but recently I've been seeing lots of teams re-inventing it in some way. Personally, I've been using Git LFS for my obsidian vault which solved most of the large-file issue I used to have. But Anthropic is dealing with 30k merges daily and 100gb+ branch history. So ignoring the fact that clearly, no human team can ever even hope to scratch the surface of reading 30k merge requests a day, they decided to change Git rather than the process. So they built what they "Scion". Commits, merges and history happen on the server. Agents can query or change files through APIs without checking out the repo. When they need a checkout, they fetch only what's needed. Anthropic reports roughly 100x faster checkouts and 200x lower CPU and memory requirements for its source control infrastructure. It's built for their enormous, always-online workload. Most of us can keep using Git. I remember hearing about "Vit" a while ago. Vit brings another approach to video editing. It versions DaVinci Resolve timeline edits as lightweight JSON using Git underneath. The editing decisions get history; the raw footage stays separate. Then there's the work that isn't ready to commit. Which is what I've been thinking about / building with Code Folder Sync. Which is similar to Theo's Treesync.dev - which is an encrypted hosted mirror of your live workspace (aka code folder). I'm building Code Folder Sync around an SSH hub you control. Both move unfinished files and Git state between machines, preserving conflicting edits as copies. Git is great. But it wasn't built around agents working across machines at this scale. It makes sense that people are rethinking it. P.S. For my vault, the notes go into Git normally. The media uses small LFS pointers containing a hash and size. The actual files live in iCloud and a local LFS cache. GitHub stores the pointers, so it can't restore the media on its own.
