  • A government is paying founders $136,000 to build a startup with 0% tax. You have until August 2. It is Abu Dhabi, through Hub71, its main startup hub. Here is the real breakdown. The money: AED 500,000, around $136,000. → Half in services, zero equity taken: free office, subsidized housing, Microsoft and Amazon cloud credits. → Half in cash through a founder-friendly SAFE. Top teams get up to $68,000 more. The visa: a 5-year golden visa. → Hub71's endorsement letter clears the requirement most founders get stuck on. → Not tied to an employer. Covers the whole family. The 10-year version wants AED 2M invested instead. The taxes, and this is the part that stings: → Personal income: zero. → Capital gains: zero. → No local partner. You own 100%, and the region's deepest capital sits in the same country. One thing nobody advertises: Hub71 endorses roughly 15% of applicants. This is a filter, not a giveaway. The ones who clear it do not just apply. They position. I have sold across more borders than most founders have shipped features. The passport was never the moat. The positioning was. Apply before August 2, or wait about six months for the next cohort. Program links and the visa document checklist are in the first comment. Save this and send it to the founder who keeps saying "someday." Next I break down Saudi Arabia. The stakes there are even higher. P.S. Founder freedom, or just tax arbitrage with better weather? Say it straight. Follow if you'd rather be chosen by clients than chase them.

  • "Our product is better than theirs. That is our edge." I hear this from founders all the time. It is the most expensive belief in tech. A better product is the weakest moat there is. Market power beats technical superiority. Every single time. (Look at Visa) → Around 40% market share on legacy rails that are slower and pricier than Adyen or Stripe. The better tech lost. Visa still wins. Tesla was not first with EVs. X was not the first network. ChatGPT was not the first LLM. None of them won on the tech. They won on the game they chose to play. (The power moves behind every market leader) → Distribution you do not have to beg for → Visibility that makes you the default choice → Network effects that compound with every user → Switching costs that make leaving painful → Scale that lets you outspend and outlast → Partnerships that lock in demand → Data no one else can touch Modern business is not "build it and they will come." It is "control the board so they cannot ignore you." If you have the better tech and none of these levers, your product is just a nice feature in someone else's empire. P.S. Of those seven levers, which one is your biggest gap right now? Follow if you'd rather be chosen by clients than chase them.

  • They released Claude Code 1.5 years ago. Does it make any sense?
