About Pall Agarwal

I've always been drawn to the question of how things get built - businesses, communities, ideas that actually move people. That curiosity started early, and it's what eventually brought me from Calcutta to Regina, trading a science classroom for the world of Finance and Economics. The science background wasn't a detour. It taught me how to think in systems, and economics gave me a language for the part I actually cared about: markets, people, and what makes things work in the real world. That thread has run through everything since. Outside the classroom, I've never been good at sitting still. I've found my people in rooms where someone is trying to build something - whether that's through Enactus Regina, Rotaract, Hill JDC West, UR Investing, JCI, SYPE, or the other communities I've stumbled into and stayed for. The organizations have changed over the years, but the pattern hasn't: I show up, I get involved, lead and I usually leave having learned more from the people around me than I brought in. I'm finishing up my degree now, and if you asked me what I know for certain after all of it - the moves, the late nights, the teams I've been lucky enough to be part of - it's this: staying grounded and backing yourself fully is still the most underrated strategy there is. If you want to talk entrepreneurship, community building, or where to find the best momo in Regina, I'm your person.

  • If you had told 19 year old me, landing in Regina alone, that this is how the 4 years would end, I would not have believed a word of it. A couple of weeks ago, I finally graduated from University of Regina ( Hill Levene School of Business at University of Regina) with a finance and economics degree. And honestly, the feeling is surreal and as if I am light as air. A big weight off the shoulders, phew. So let me say the 4 years out loud: - 22 roles across clubs, internships, contracts and part time jobs. - 4 industry internships, including TD and FCC / FAC. - 11 scholarships worth $25,000 - Paid off $100k education via scholarships, part time jobs, and internships which meant sometimes working 4 jobs at once haha! - $120,000+ raised for this community. - 5,000+ volunteer hours. - 20+ students mentored for internships and scholarship applications. - Won notable awards like Regina 25 by Economic Development Regina, YWCA Regina Women of Distinction Finalist, Student of the Year 2024 by Centre for Experiential and Service Learning CESL, Top 10 Women Leader at Enactus Canada. - Competition flights to cities like Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal across the country. - Work in tech, finance, design, media, admin, social impact and entrepreneurship. - The Good Morning Project, a kindness and civic pride initiative that we grew from nothing. - Started hosting my own co-working sessions called The Hang, which I want to eventually grow into a biggg community immersing tech talent and more!! - And one night I opened for an Indian standup comedian in Regina, which I still do not know how that happened The first in my family to self-sufficiently move abroad at 19! Trust me, it feels great haha. But here's what nobody tells you when you see a list like that - a major part of it comes from making great plans + decisions (especially financially) and rest just taking the leap. For me, it came from asking for things I was underqualified for, over and over, and being fine with some rejections in the way. Every line up there exists because somebody said yes - Be it a professor writing me a reference or my manager at work trusting me with a new project or being okay with me failing sometimes. Friends forwarding postings. People in this network replying to a cold message from a student who had nothing to offer back yet. So here's what I want you to takeaway from this journey - JUST ASK! For the referral, the coffee, the scholarship you feel unqualified for. Silence is the worst outcome, and silence costs you nothing. I recently attended a conference where Eleni Belete said something that validates all of this - you have no idea how much people are willing to help you, if you just ask! But at the same time, do respect the ask and represent the person well. There is a next chapter I cannot wait to tell you about 🚘 Until then, taking a short break and travelling, building community and catching up with friends across the country :) d

  • I hiked up a mountain at 9 am with a group of strangers who turned out to be some of the best founders in this country. That was how the YEY Awards by League of Innovators Accelerator day opened in Vancouver. A founders' hike before anyone had put on a blazer, so I met most of the winners while we were all out of breath haha. I also met Enactus Canada, who was the community partner, and running into Anja Zeljkovic on the trail was a full circle I did not see coming. I came out of that community, and watching them show up in rooms like this is a specific kind of proud. Later that evening, on a rooftop at Amazon's Vancouver office, I got to reconnect with Jayesh Parmar, one of Sask's own, which never gets old this far from home. Thank you to the whole LOI team for a room that felt welcoming from the very first minute, and for sending the winner profiles out ahead of time so the rest of us could actually show up prepared. Congratulations to every founder who walked away with something that night. You earned the view from that rooftop!!! I want to give a special shoutout to Joel Hansen who hung back to keep pace with me and we chatted about what keeps us going in life!! Someone in that climb advised me how fitness becomes a non negotiable in order to propel in one's career. The people getting up that hill comfortably were the same people running the companies being celebrated that evening. I think my takeaway from this endeavour is - Pall, you need to invest in your health and well-being ('bout time)!! Ambition is a physical job, and nobody ever puts that part in the job description.

  • We had almost no money and no name outside our own campus. We still got 29 of us from Regina to Montreal for almost nothing! I have been looking back at the Enactus Regina years a lot lately. Everyone around me had already decided there was 1 scholarship, 1 internship, and someone with a better resume already halfway to both. That scarcity mindset does way more damage than we can think about! So I came in with 3 things I wanted every single person on that team to walk out with: - Grit, because the work is boring long before it is impressive. - Closing loops, because I have watched too many good ideas die at 80% - Don't ask, don't get, because most of what we needed was sitting behind an email nobody wanted to send. So I posted a job, a scholarship, an event, a webinar, almost every single day on Slack until our members almost got annoyed and finally believed that there was way more here than they thought (aka, the abundance mindset). And every loop I opened, I closed in front of them, including the ugly weeks, so the standard was already something they had watched me hold. The awards were nice. The part I still think about is the members who left and started their own things, their own events, and never once asked if they were allowed to. So, here's what I learnt - If you are running something small right now with a budget that embarrasses you, the people are the only outcome you fully control. Your team copies exactly what they watch you do when it gets inconvenient. Hence, pick that thing carefully!
