90% of businesses implementing AI right now will regret it in 18 months. Not because AI is bad. Because they're doing it completely backwards. Here's the pattern I keep seeing: A business owner reads about AI. Gets excited. Calls a developer. Says "add AI to our website." The developer adds a chatbot widget. The business owner feels like they've done something. They haven't. They've added a layer on top of a broken process. If your sales follow-up is slow — an AI chatbot doesn't fix that. It just automates the slow follow-up. If your intake process loses information — an AI form doesn't fix that. It just loses information faster. AI doesn't fix broken processes. It amplifies whatever is already there. Good process + AI = exceptional. Broken process + AI = expensively broken. The businesses that will win with AI aren't the ones who implement it fastest. They're the ones who fix the underlying process first — then let AI run it at scale. Most aren't doing that. Most are just buying a faster car without learning to drive. —— To the developers and engineers here: What's the worst AI implementation you've seen — where someone added AI to a process that was fundamentally broken? I want to hear the horror stories.
Can AI turn a messy blueprint into a professional invoice in 60 seconds? 🏗️🤖 We built a tool to prove it can. A client recently asked us for a simple solution: "I don't want complex enterprise software. I just want to drag and drop a floor plan and get the cost instantly." So, we built BuildSmart AI. It’s not just a demo—it’s a complete workflow for contractors and estimators. How it works (The Simple Part): 1. 📄 Upload: Drag & Drop any blueprint image. 2. 🧠 Analyze: Our AI scans for rooms, materials, and dimensions. 3. ✅ Invoice: Auto-generates a line-item cost estimate PDF. Under the Hood (The B2B Part): We upgraded the system this week with features that turn this into a real SaaS platform: 🔹 New Dashboard: Track your pipeline and past estimates. 🔹 Smart Learning: The AI remembers your manual price adjustments. 🔹 Feedback Loop: Built-in bug reporting to keep improving the system. We are opening this up for public testing today. 👇 Try it live (Link in comments): Test the accuracy, export a PDF, and use the new "Feedback" button to tell us what you think. #AI #ConstructionTech #SaaS #Automation #B2B #BuildPublic #Innovation
Spent the last few weeks building something I've been annoyed about for a while: nobody can actually tell how much of their codebase is AI-generated and unreviewed until something breaks. So I built the AI-Code Accountability Ledger. It's not another AI code reviewer — there are already a dozen of those. This tracks something different: how much of your code was AI-written, how deeply it was actually reviewed (not just "approved"), and where that overlaps with your most critical paths — auth, payments, that kind of thing. A few things it does: • Computes a Verification Debt score per repo, so you can see where risk is actually concentrated, not just guess • Flags "review avoidance" — PRs that sit unopened for days and then get approved in under a minute • Surfaces ownership gaps, where AI-generated code got merged and nobody's actually accountable for it • Forces mandatory deep review on anything touching business-critical paths, regardless of how fast someone tried to approve it The part I'm more excited to talk about, honestly: the demo video attached to this post was made almost entirely by a system I built myself. I fed it the project URL and a feature list, it drafted a script, drove a real browser through the actual product, generated narration in a cloned voice (XTTS, running locally — no cloud API), synced captions to it, and assembled the final cut. I clicked "record" and manually logged in when it asked. That's it. The voice clone isn't perfect yet — I'm running this on a 4GB GPU, so there's a ceiling right now. But the pipeline works, end to end, for free, which was the actual constraint I set for myself. Two projects, one post: an accountability layer for AI-generated code, demoed by my own AI video pipeline. I'll probably do a full breakdown of how the video system works next, since a few people have already asked. Curious what people think — especially anyone dealing with the "who actually reviewed this" problem on their own team. #SoftwareEngineering #AI #DeveloperTools #Python #BuildInPublic
