Last Monday, I became the RevOps Manager at a $3.5M ARR company in Paris. My first move was to build nothing. No new tools. No campaigns. No buying signals. No enrichment workflows. After 18 months as a GTM Engineer, my instinct was to start building. But RevOps starts somewhere else. So I spent my first week talking to: → My manager, the Growth Lead → The SDR Lead → The AE Lead → The SDRs and AEs doing the work every day I used Notion AI to transcribe every call and turn it into structured notes. Now every insight is searchable when I need it. By the end of the week, I knew: → Which problems could wait → Who knew our ICP inside out → Which problems were urgent → Where our processes were breaking → Who understood our messaging best → Who had closed millions using intent signals More importantly, I knew whom to speak to before changing anything. This week, I’m combining those conversations with data from Claap and our CRM, the source of truth. Then I’ll build the RevOps strategy. Not around the tools I want to use. Around the problems the sales team actually needs solved. My first lesson in RevOps: Don’t automate a business you don’t understand yet. Listen first. Find the truth. Then build. For the experienced RevOps leaders here: What should a new RevOps Manager focus on during the first 90 days?
I have 2 homes and I'm a guest in both. At 22 I left to build a life somewhere else. At 25 I understood the thing I actually left wasn't the country. Here I'm the foreigner with the accent and the paperwork. There I'm the visitor who missed things. Nobody warns you about this part. You don't lose one home when you move. You slowly stop having one. The friends back home built lives you're not in. The friends here met you fully formed, so they only know half of you. Your family stops telling you the small things. For a long time I thought something was wrong with me. I don't call anywhere home anymore. Not this city, not the one I left. Just people, wherever they are. If you're living between 2 countries right now: You're not ungrateful and you're not lost. You're carrying two lives, and neither one is full-time. PS: If you live abroad, where is home for you now? I'd like to read these.
I've been hired as a GTM engineer at 3 companies doing $60M in combined revenue. None of them ever saw my CV. What I sent instead: 1) Proof, not claims. The ChatGPT resume template gets four seconds of skim. Work you already shipped gets read to the end. 2) A page I own. Case studies, the systems behind them, numbers they can verify without asking me. One link beats three paragraphs about my passion for growth. 3) AI pointed at their problem, not a generic one. Handing Claude Code a prompt and shipping another dashboard isn't the job. The job is reading what's broken in their motion and building against that. The mapping I use: They can't track sales activity? → Build the tracker their reps would actually open in the morning. They can't get qualified leads? → Wire the right APIs into the data they're already sitting on. Their messaging reads like a template? → Feed it their sales calls, their CRM, their own context. Do this and the interview stops being an interview. It turns into a walkthrough of work you already did for them. The CV used to be the qualification layer. Now it's the thing that filters you out. What do you think is missing?
