  • How can you miss an event when Canva x Pinterest pull up together?! 👀✨ Its the Canva World Tour, and obviously I couldn't miss this one! Had the loveliest evening surrounded by beauty entrepreneurs, creatives and some really interesting conversations about trends, content and building brands. Loved hearing from some amazing people in the industry Hannah Ngakane from Pinterest, alongside the very fabulous Pia Fisher, Giorgia Cappella (i am a fan) and Natalie J, with Wignii Mtopo hosting the conversation. One takeaway I found particularly interesting? Specificity is becoming everything in search. From the return of 2000s trends to pushing back against perfection and embracing a more self-styled era, its fascinating to see how consumer behaviour is evolving. As someone working in social and content, its a lovely reminder that understanding how people search is just as important as what we create and sometimes, as Hannah mentioned 'done is better than perfect'! And finally, SO lovely to meet Lorna Bladen in person, an absolute sweetheart, and Gonzalo always a star! 🩷 Big appreciation to the Canva team for creating opportunities to hear directly from the people shaping industry trends, those watching them evolve in real time, and also for those bringing them to life every day. What a reminder that good content gets attention, but content that understands its audience gets discovered 🪄

  • 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁!! And a 1,000-year-old tapestry might just be proving that 👀 We're constantly talking about what's next in marketing. The next big trend? Maybe the next viral campaign? The next big idea that'll get 'Gen Z's' attention. But who would've thought that the Bayeux Tapestry, a nearly 1,000-year-old piece of history, would be giving Hollywood blockbusters a run for their money? According to Monzo's spending data, over half of the people buying tickets in the first hour of the latest release were under 35. And the spending was more than double what the bank recorded for The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Now, as someone who's a 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 and works in marketing, a mixture of SPAM (we know this) and GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums) I find this whole thing way more fascinating. I've always loved how museums can make you feel connected to stories, people and moments from centuries ago and seeing so many young people excited about a piece of history makes me very happy. But it also makes me wonder whether we've become a little too obsessed with making everything "new". We often assume that younger audiences need something completely different to stay interested. Something faster, trendier or more digitally exciting. But perhaps that's not always true! 𝙎𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙨, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝. 𝙄𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙢𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙖𝙪𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚. There's an element of exclusivity, curiosity and FOMO surrounding the Bayeux Tapestry's upcoming exhibition in London. But I think there's a bigger lesson here for brands. Heritage can be an asset for sure and authenticity can be exciting and something doesn't necessarily lose its relevance just because it's old. Not everybody needs to chase the latest trend or reinvent its identity to connect with a younger generation. Sometimes, it's about finding new ways to tell the stories that have been there all along. Maybe the future of marketing isn't always about creating something new, but helping people rediscover what's already worth paying attention to ✨ #LinkedInNextGenCommunity

  • The clocks go back tomorrow, and darker evenings are back 🌆🍂 But for many women, that also means changing how we move around our cities!! Living alone in London, this is something I do consider it for myself. Like sharing our live locations, keeping our phones charged, taking better-lit routes or calling someone on the way home. Do you know what the recent statistics say? 1) 𝟖𝟖% of women surveyed have felt unsafe walking alone after dark. 2) 𝟕𝟏% changed their walking routes to avoid darkness. 3) 𝟒𝟔% experienced unwanted behaviour or harassment while walking alone in the past year. To be really honest, that's quite unsettling when you think about how much we've normalised adjusting our routines just to feel a little safer. I've always believed that feeling safe in public spaces should be something we can take for granted, not something we have to constantly plan around. UN Women UK, “Right to Move” campaign feels particularly important. Their message is simple: Stop. Support. Report. Recognise harassment, intervene safely where possible, support someone experiencing it, and help them report it if they wish. The responsibility shouldn't always fall on women to change their routines or lifestyles. I also think there's something to be said about the little things we can do for each other. Being aware of what's happening around us, checking in, offering help when we can, and not simply looking away. 𝘚𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘦𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘥𝘢𝘺. As the clocks go back, I hope we can have more conversations and create actions about making public spaces safer for everyone, rather than expecting women to keep adapting to them. The clocks will change, the seasons will change, but not our freedom to move :)
