About Shafiq ur rehman

AI Software Engineer | Backend · DevOps (Docker, K8s, AWS) · Agentic AI · LLM Trainer · Mobile (React Native iOS/Android) · Microservices | ex-AI Eng. @ Turing | Mentor at Dev Weekends

I'm a full-stack and AI engineer working across cloud and DevOps, based in Lahore. I build products end-to-end and put them live: the application, the infrastructure it runs on, and the pipeline that ships it. At some point, the question I cared about changed. It stopped being "does this feature work" and became "what happens when a hundred people use it at once, and what happens when it breaks at 3 am." That pulled me toward infrastructure. Now I containerize what I build, automate the testing and deployments, and run it on AWS. The AI work sits alongside it, and I'm more interested in the systems around the models than in the models themselves. I build agents with LangChain, LangGraph, and MCP. At Turing, I spent six months writing and reviewing hard coding problems used to train models to reason better about code. What I work with Backend: Node.js, Express, FastAPI, Python, TypeScript, REST APIs, microservices, Redis Cloud and DevOps: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, CI/CD, Nginx, Linux Frontend and mobile: React, Next.js, React Native, Vue.js, Redux Toolkit Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, Redis, Firebase AI: LangChain, LangGraph, MCP, RAG, OpenAI API, RLHF Languages: Python, C++, JavaScript, TypeScript Outside of work, I mentor 300+ students in data structures and algorithms at Dev Weekends, where I've published 10+ recorded sessions on scalability, authentication, and React internals. I write about AI systems and web internals on Dev.to. 250+ problems solved across LeetCode and Codeforces, and an Honorable Mention at ICPC Asia Topi Preliminary 2024. Open to backend, cloud, and DevOps engineering roles. Remote or hybrid. [email removed] shafiqurrehman.com

  • Full-stack developers don't need to switch to AI. You need to add it to what you already know. I build complete applications. Frontend, backend, databases, deployment. Then I added cloud and DevOps. Then I added AI engineering. Nothing I learned before got replaced. Every piece stacked on top of the last one. Here's why this matters right now: AI engineering is the fastest-growing skill on LinkedIn this year. Companies want people who can build a working product end-to-end, not just people who understand models in theory. A full stack developer who adds AI skills can: Build a complete product with an AI feature inside, from frontend to database to deployment Deploy that product using cloud and DevOps practices, not just run it on a laptop Fix problems across the whole stack, not just one layer Pure AI specialists often can't ship the full product alone. Full stack developers who add AI can. If you already know React, Node, and databases, you're closer to an AI engineering role than you think. The gap is smaller than most people assume. What's stopping you from adding AI to your current stack? Tell me below.

  • Forward Deployed Engineering is the fastest-growing role in tech right now. Job postings for Forward Deployed Engineers grew over 1,000% in the past year. OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic launched their own FDE programs in 2026. Palantir started the trend years ago, and now every AI company wants engineers who can sit with customers and ship working software on the spot. What makes a Forward Deployed Engineer different from a regular software engineer: You build and deploy code inside the customer's environment, not just in your own team's sprint. You spend most of your time talking to users, understanding their real problems, then coding a fix fast. You bridge the gap between what a product promises and what a customer actually needs. You work closely with sales and support, not far from them. This role exists because most AI pilots fail to reach production. Companies need people who stay close to the customer and adjust the product in real time. If you come from a full-stack background, this path fits you well. The technical skills you already have (React, Node, databases, APIs) matter here. The new skill to build is talking to customers and turning their problems into working code fast. Are you interested in Forward Deployed Engineering as a career path? Tell me what's stopping you from applying.

  • Stop paying for LLM APIs before you check this out. Found a goldmine repo on GitHub that tracks free LLM APIs from every major provider, all in one place. It breaks down: ✅ Available models ✅ Free tier limits ✅ Context window sizes ✅ API access details Perfect if you're: 🔹 Building an MVP without burning your budget 🔹 Testing multiple LLMs before committing to one 🔹 Just experimenting with AI side projects Bookmarking this one for every future build. 📌 🔗 https://lnkd.in/d7TYsppm What's your go-to free LLM API right now?
