I called a candidate to discuss his offer. CTC was slightly below what he had asked for. I expected a negotiation. Instead, he said: “Ma’am, I’m okay with this.” I paused. Something felt off. So I asked, “Are you sure? You can negotiate.” He replied quietly: “I’ve been unemployed for 7 months. My rent is due. My mother keeps asking if I got any call. I just need a start again.” That conversation stayed with me. We talk so much about: • Confidence • Salary negotiation • Knowing your worth But sometimes, people aren’t under-confident. They’re just tired. Tired of waiting. Tired of explaining gaps. Tired of pretending everything is fine. So we revised the offer. Not out of sympathy.. but respect. Because survival shouldn’t cost someone their dignity. Behind every “okay with this CTC” there’s often a story we never ask.
My parents were coming to visit me for a weekend, which sounded lovely until I realised I was suddenly responsible for planning the entire thing. Where are we going for dinner? What should we do on Saturday? Is there somewhere nice we can take them? I started looking around and quickly ended up with way too many tabs open, three restaurant lists and absolutely no decision 😭 I didn't want to spend the whole week planning. I just wanted to have a nice weekend with them. So I tried the Signature Club on my Moto Signature. I put in what I was looking for and got help finding places to eat, things to do and getting the bookings sorted. Suddenly, the whole weekend was planned without me becoming a full-time travel planner. We had a really nice time, which was the whole point anyway. P.S. Of course, my parents still changed half the plan. Some things even Signature Club can't fix 😂 Motorola Mobility (a Lenovo Company)
I got a call at 11:30 AM today. Hiring manager I know well. "Tanshi do you know anyone for a senior role? Good package. Urgent requirement. Need someone fast." I thought of one name immediately. She had been job hunting for 4 months. Applying every day. Hearing nothing. I sent her name. By 2 PM she had a call. By Friday she had an offer. She never applied anywhere for this role. She did not even know it existed. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱. Not through portals. Through people.
