About Tim Hillison

Converting Technical Advantage Into Commercial Growth | Global GTM Operator + Engineer | $1B+ Impact | Ex-Visa, Microsoft, PayPal | #gotimmarket

Revenue is lumpy. Forecasts miss. The board wants predictability. That’s where I come in. Engineering-led companies often have more technical value than they've converted into market value. I build and run adaptive GTM systems that turn technical advantage into clear positioning, customer adoption, revenue, and scalable growth. GTM is an operating system connecting Product, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, RevOps, Enablement, and leadership. The work starts wherever commercial performance gets stuck: ⚡ A technically strong product the market doesn't fully understand ⚡ Positioning that fails to create customer preference ⚡ Product, sales, and marketing telling different stories ⚡ Uneven pipeline and unreliable forecasts ⚡ Global expansion without a repeatable commercial system ⚡ Investor narratives that don't capture the company’s potential At Entry Point 1, I work with engineering-led companies from $0–$300M ARR: ⚡ StartRight | $0–$5M ARR Investor-ready GTM foundations for founders moving from technical promise to market traction. ⚡ FlexScale | $5–$100M ARR Embedded GTM leadership for scaleups needing stronger positioning, aligned teams, and predictable growth. ⚡ FullStack GTM | $75–$300M ARR An embedded GTM partner for VC- and PE-backed companies where execution, accountability, and board visibility matter. Execution Beats Theory. Every Time. My experience spans nearly 30 years across startups, scaleups, and global enterprises: 📈 $1B+ in attributed commercial impact 📈 28% pipeline growth in nine months, with shorter sales cycles and lower CAC 📈 Three company exits and $200M+ in institutional funding supported 🌍 Leadership experience across the US, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America 🏢 Former roles with Visa, Microsoft, PayPal, PwC Digital, Cognizant Digital Business, and venture-backed companies I've been a 3x CMO, management consultant, product marketer, sales leader, and GTM operator. That range matters because commercialization problems rarely belong to one function. They sit between product and market. Between technical teams and buyers. Between strategy and execution. Between what a company has built and what customers are willing to understand, adopt, and pay for. My work spans AI infrastructure, semiconductors, robotics, industrial technology, fintech, connected health, geospatial analytics, cloud, and technically complex software. I don't stop at strategy. I build and run the system with you and your team. AI crunches the numbers. We build the relationships. Explore: www.entrypoint1.com

  • Two days vs. four minutes. As a business owner, getting time back is a win. Entry Point 1 works with technical founders and executives to build and run adaptive GTM systems. We also build and run AI workflows with OpenClaw. Implementing a complex workflow with OpenClaw took two days. Getting Viktor running in Slack took four minutes. If every team needs another implementation project before AI can help, we’ve added complexity, not leverage. Viktor is an AI employee who works inside Slack or Microsoft Teams, where teams already work. Once he was running, the question changed: What should he own? For this use case, it’s the daily briefing: what changed, what matters, and why. He surfaces the evidence and shows his reasoning. Viktor owns the recurring review. We own the judgment. Less time managing infrastructure. More time creating customer and business value. Get started free at @viktor.com. $100 in credits included, no card. Full link in first comment. #AIemployee #BusinessOperations In partnership with Viktor.

  • We don’t lose because we lack talent. Talent hides a bad system for a surprisingly long time. Smart people compensate. Often carrying extra weight, improvising, and driving things forward. Sometimes it works incredibly well. Until business complexity grows faster than people can absorb it. Then, it’s the small inconsistencies that start showing up everywhere. Leads mean one thing to Sales and something else to Marketing. Expansion gets mixed with acquisition. One channel quietly carries too much of the load. None of this means the people are weak. It means the system is asking too much from individual judgment. Engineering-led companies usually understand this on the product side. Reliability gets designed in. Failure points get tested. No serious team expects one great engineer to hold everything together forever. Revenue architecture deserves the same discipline. Good judgment matters. So does experience. But great people shouldn’t have to compensate for a bad system. Build one that makes their judgment more valuable. Execution Beats Theory. Every Time. 👋 Hi, I’m Tim. • When our expertise becomes a blind spot, we can often mistake capability for advantage. Tools matter. What we do with them matters more. Engineering-led companies often build too much. Not because they’re bad at it. It’s because that’s what’s comfortable for them. When we are able to build something ourselves, ownership feels like an advantage. It isn’t always. If we can replace a model, infrastructure layer, or capability without changing what the customer values, it’s an input. Our best engineering talent shouldn’t be spent recreating what the market already does well. Invest where customers feel it. Own the differentiation. Create flexibility on the inputs.
