The first solo founder unicorn is here 🦄 OpenClaw hit $1B valuation in 2025. One founder. No co-founding team. No bloated headcount. At the beginning of last year, Sam Altam told TechCrunch he and his friends had a bet on when the first billion dollar one-person company would arrive. The answer? Now. But here's what most people missed about this founder. He's 39. He previously built a company that raised $116M. That he bootstrapped for very long. No massive raise. No 50-person team. No permission. This is the founder archetype that's emerging. Experienced. Autonomous. AI-augmented. Building lean because the tools finally caught up to the vision. You don't need to be in your 20s. You don't need a co-founder. You don't need venture capital to get to $1B. You need conviction, craft, and a team of agents. This is the best time to build. 🚀 I break down the solo founder playbook on Substack. Comment SOLO to get it.
Today my heart was full 🙏 We just finished the go through from all the companies of Top 20 from Fundraising School. Many repeat founders. Many first-time founders. All of them building with everything they have. In just 5 weeks, many of these projects changed 180 degrees. That kind of fast iteration under pressure? It's rare. It's real. And it reminded me why Latin America is the biggest overlooked talent pool. The entrepreneurs from this cohort and the one before, along with every speaker who was part of this, have inspired me more than they know. So inspired, in fact, that I've made a decision I'm leaving Bilbao2 after this Demo day. I don't know exactly what comes next. But I know this: The best time to build is NOW. It has never been easier, faster, or cheaper to turn an idea into something real. And I refuse to sit on the sidelines Specially knowing how different is building as a female founder. To the founders I've watched grow these past weeks you lit something in me. Thank you 🙏 Thank you Mario Bustillo, Tobi Giorgis, Camila García Romero and Andrés Bilbao may you keep inspiring more entrepreneurs from Latin America
One of the most powerful things a woman can do is solve her own problems and then hand the blueprint to the next one - Sequoia Blodgett I'm building on March 8 because women are expected to perform like men in work and life while having a completely different blueprint. To celebrate, Lovable will be completely free for 24 hours, powered by Anthropic. Plus, everyone who participates will get $100 in Anthropic API credits and $250 in Stripe fee credits. Join me and builders around the world for SheBuilds on Lovable for International Women's Day! https://lnkd.in/eBrBykcS Thanks for sharing Sequoia 🫶🏽
