About Angeliki Galanopoulou

I left Google for YouTube... (kind of) | Exploring what’s possible in the AI economy | Sales & Effective Comms Expert | Interviewer | Host of The Adaptive Times 🎙️

AI might be a threat to jobs but it's also the biggest opportunity to build anything you’ve ever dreamed of. The barrier to entry has never been lower. So why stay stuck doing career the conventional way? Hi, I’m Angeliki 👋🏻 At Google, I sold AI solutions for 7.5 years, without slides. Decks don’t move people, communication does but most of us often forget it. Which is why effective communication comes first in everything I do. But most importantly, after 15 years in advertising & digital, I decided to stop chasing the next title and start building instead. Why? Because I suddenly lost my dad and for the first time I realised how short life can be. Now I’m exploring what’s possible when you design your own career. This means that I'm running a few things in parallel: my business podcast, an app for the Greek market (more soon), sales fractional or consulting work for tech startups and effective communication workshops. I write about adaptive leadership, effective communication, building a portfolio career, the "soft" skills that become "hard" and how to work more effectively with the help of AI. Here’s what I believe: AI has lowered the barrier to building so much that opportunity is more accessible now than it’s ever been. Top that with the easy access to promoting your thing via content, and you have a business. Most people just can’t see it yet. I’m here to change that conversation. Through The Adaptive Times, I talk to people building unconventional careers, some still in corporate navigating the pivot, some who’ve moved into more aligned roles, some who’ve left and are building on the side. No filter, no formula. And underneath all of it is one belief: whether you’re a team selling a product or a person selling your own pivot, communicating effectively is the advantage. How to work with me: → A power hour on career pivots or what you want to build & starting together. → Communication effectiveness workshops for sales & client servicing teams. → Book me to moderate a panel in your next event (I promise you a hot debate), or host your team day. DM me for any of the above! Or suggest a topic for my podcast (that's always a great conversation starter) :)

  • I need a break from my break. Yes, this is a thing. I almost fell into the trap of maximising my deadlines and efficiency. But now I'm ready to course correct. Last week I was in London maxing my social battery capacity. 2 event days, 2 episode filmings back to back, a full day of coffee meetings with people I wanted to meet IRL from in here on LinkedIn. Flew back on Saturday, straight into my best friend's birthday party until late. Sunday was dedicated to my other bestie who lives in Abu Dhabi and I hadn't seen since November, and happened to have a layover in Athens. Monday was a 12hr day of work for all of the tasks around my comms clients, podcast and personal brand socials that were left behind because of my London packed week. Tuesday I woke up and my brain was not working anymore. Literally. I went to my mom's, forgot my phone in the car, went back to get it but without my car keys, went back in to get the car keys, but forgot the flat keys to come back in. 😅 You see? I'm telling you I desperately need a break. 🪫 And this is when I realised I'd blown past my energy range without even noticing. I preach energy management, but I forgot to define my own limits. Knowing what drains vs boosts you is important, but so is recognizing when you've pushed too far. 🔋 The beauty of this corporate break though? The freedom of choice. I respected my body yesterday and ended up doing nothing except staring at the ceiling without thinking and going to the movies in the evening. No guilt. But the corporate break doesn't mean anything if you don't manage your own self and boundaries. Yes I have a million things to do but who dictates that they need to get done now that I'm self-employed?? My perfectionism! So here's my plan to not fall into that trap: 🧠 15 things need to happen this week. I'll do the must-do 5 (Kate's advice on how to prioritise my to-do list in my latest episode was gold → https://shorturl.at/OLMpq). 🧠 Disappear from socials for the next 10 days. I'll be in Sicily and I want to be fully present. Not bringing my laptop, not feeling the need to be seen online. Who cares. 🧠 Postpone my next full episode. Launching a new guest episode requires a lot of online time and prep. So instead I'm releasing more unseen content from Kate Sotsenko on Monday and Sean Kennedy next Friday. People have been asking for more on the AI job market and productivity and I have 15+ minutes of filmed, and good, but unreleased content from each. This is how I'm adapting, staying true to my values of giving value and respecting your time, while also protecting my own mental peace. What do you do when you need to recharge your own battery? ps. there will be a scheduled post in here next Friday to remind you of the unseen clips going live on my podcast 🤓

  • I have no idea what my ONE word is. Look, I don't consider myself a content creator, though I post in here. So why was I at CreatorFest this week? 😅 Because creating content has become the lowest barrier to entry for career transitions IMO. Think about it: you're in finance but always wanted to be an interior designer. A few years ago this would be unimaginable (or expensive). You'd need insane luck and connections to land a job without experience. Or spend all the money going back to uni. While now, you can just start talking about it online. If you love something, you probably have a POV on it. Put yourself out there. Share it. Build an audience. Create opportunities before you even make a scary leap. That's what I'm doing. Though I’m still figuring out quite publicly what my personal brand is. My podcast is my main thing rn, so in that form I consider myself a facilitator. Or builder. (Also building another side gig launching in August 🤫 ) But as I keep showing up in here, I'm realising I might be confusing people on what I do, who I am. Tbh I'm confused myself, so I’m biased. 😂 Career messy middle creator? Sales leader from my corporate times? Communication effectiveness expert? AI workflows geek? Podcast host? Builder? Founder? Pick one for me because I genuinely can't (I’ll do a blind lottery). Which is why two talks at CreatorFest made me deeply reflect: → Grace Andrews said you should be known as "[your name], the person who does X." → Mia McGrath advised to be associated with one word: ie "Mia, finance." And I'm sitting there thinking... I don't even know what my ONE word is. But maybe I've been asking the wrong question entirely. Maybe instead of asking "what's my niche," I should be asking "what's my thread." The thing that connects all the seemingly random stuff I do. And I’m still looking for it. 𝘚𝘰 𝘐'𝘮 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘦: "𝘈𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘪, ___" — 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵? • If nothing else comes out of this career break and me posting in here, let it be this: 1. Inspire you to speak up. Ask for what you want at work. Shout your wins even when it feels cringe and create opportunities for yourself by getting out there. I know it's uncomfortable but you have to do it. 2. Normalise career breaks. Whether to recharge and go back to corporate, or trial your thing. Don't you want me fully motivated and recharged if I come back? I shout it particularly for my home country Greece. The UK is better at it. It's all about the story you tell during and after. 3. Normalise saying "I don't know." We live in a world that changes so fast, you couldn't possibly know everything. And it's the only way to learn fast AND drop the expectations stress off your shoulders. Like this: a tool I use reached out for my first paid partnership. 3 months. And I have no idea what to charge at my size. If you have experience, DM me. 🙏 I'll tell you the case and be forever grateful. Now off to CreatorFest contemplating whether to become a content creator full time or not. Though hating being constantly online on social. 😅 So looking at my peers for tips. Have you ever taken a career break? What did you learn from it?
