About David Sanyaolu

I build the systems that find buyers before your competitors know they exist. My background spans three fields that converge in GTM engineering: I started as a finance officer and analyst; two and a half years of Excel models, risk analysis, and data-driven decisions. I then pivoted into freelance content writing and social media management, writing for founders and agencies across fintech, personal finance, and B2B which taught me how the right message moves someone from attention to action. Then I found Clay. And it clicked immediately, the same analytical thinking from finance, now applied to building systems that find, score, and qualify buyers at scale. Excel on steroids, but this time pointed at pipeline. Today, I build signal-based GTM systems, webhook architectures that pipe live renovation signals from Exa AI into Clay, multi-source enrichment pipelines combining Prospeo, ICYPEAS, and native Clay enrichment, scoring formulas that cascade prospects through qualification tiers, and HTTP API integrations connecting external platforms to Clay workflows. Recent builds include a luxury hotel renovation signal engine scanning 6 geographies daily for an interior design firm, and a pre-RFQ discovery pipeline filtering 500+ industrial manufacturers by process type, project stage, and equipment fit.

  • In January, I said it out loud: I'm becoming a GTM engineer. Then I went hunting for a real curriculum, and turned out there wasn't one, I had to rely on Clay University content (and they do have amazing Clay resources) and piece some other together scattered YouTube video fragments instead. So I taught myself in pieces. Tools, but no system to tie them together. That's the exact gap I'm closing now. I just applied for the Bootprint 🥾 (prev Clay Bootcamp). Here's my real reason. I've maxed out every free resource I could find. What I've been missing is structured, execution-focused training that turns scattered tools into actual systems thinking. That's the 10x move toward the thing I'm building: my own GTM engineering agency. And if the agency path shifts, landing a GTM engineer role. Three months of hands-on, project-based work with Clay , Claude Code, CRMs, cold email, and automation. Real systems, live sessions, weekly 1:1 coaching. But the part that pulls me most is the people. A tribe that unblocks each other's projects with DMs past midnight and shares everything at office hours. That's the kind of room I've wanted to build in, coming from the Middle East & Africa. Serious practitioners who actually give. Huge thanks to the sponsors making six scholarships real: Attio, EmailBison, Deepline, RevenueHoop, Clay, OutboundSync, FastForward, and the Girls Who Clay A like or comment supporting my application would mean the world. 🙏 There are six scholarships so maybe we'll both get in together :) -- apply with the link in the comments! 👇

  • A few weeks ago I deleted the LinkedIn app off my phone... Not because anything was wrong. Because I noticed I wasn't as productive as I ought to be, and I needed to find out who I was without the feed. Two months of silence later, here's where that quiet stretch took me. I closed out my first contract as a freelance GTM engineer. It's my first pay in this field, and I'm still hunting for the full-time role, but the systems I shipped in those two months are the kind I'm genuinely proud of: → A real-time signal engine that scans six global regions on a schedule, piping qualified buying signals into Clay through Exa AI monitors and webhooks → Multi-layer client qualification runs, source validation, scoring logic, and cascading disqualifiers built to kill false positives before they waste a rep's time → My first HTTP API integration connecting Clay to an external platform from scratch Few months ago I still called myself a beginner. I don't anymore. But here's the part I can't skip: none of it happened alone. When I was deep in the first weeks of that grind, stuck, frustrated, webhooks failing at 2am, a lot of people picked up when I reached out. That's when I finally understood what community actually means. Sandra Uche, thank you for the post at the Clay Q3 event, and for walking me through more steps than I can count. Bolaji and Rejoice, you were there at every single stage. And to the GTM engineers who kept nudging me toward what's next. Neil, Mr Daï🌹, Samuel, David Ighalo, Chris Mbanta, Imran amongst many others, you're a big reason for where I'm pointed now. Because that "what's next" conversation landed on one answer: Claude Code. I've decided to spend the next few months going all in on it. My posts from here are going to lean hard into what I'm building with it. Which brings me to tomorrow. Tomorrow I'm sharing my very first Claude Code project, something I built in a single session that I couldn't have imagined pulling off two months ago. If you've followed even part of this journey, that one's for you. There was also a lot at the Q3 event worth unpacking, the new Clay workflows, and just how efficient Claude Code has become, especially with the newly released Clay CLI. More on that soon too. Thanks for being here. See you tomorrow. 👋

  • Something is going down this Friday, and it's going to be louuuuud. Out of 300+ applicants, candidates are down to just 17. And guess what. Rejoice Onyenanu 🌲 was one of those finalists. She is representing Lagos, and frankly, all of Nigeria. She has already scaled past two stages. This next one is going to be harder. But Rejoice won't be holding back either. Clay Club Nigeria 🇳🇬 will be watching. I'll be one of the loudest voices rooting for her from the sidelines. Friday, July 24. 9 AM EST. Tune in live. If you're a Rejoice supporter, grab the battle card attached below and make your own post. Let's show up for her. Let's go, Rejoice. 🔥🇳🇬 #RejoiceClaycup26
