About Dev Wadhwa

Product, VC, Community | The Gatsby of SF | I like to connect people

Hey, thank you for being here. :) I’ve realized that my best work happens on the "side-quests." 🗺️ Sometimes that looks like centralizing global data assets to make them AI-ready. Other times, it looks like curating an exclusive pitch night for SF’s top founders. Whether it’s ad-tech pipelines or 400-person yacht parties, I am relentlessly obsessed with the power of connection. 5️⃣ Why am I a "Superconnector"? I don’t just attend rooms, I build them. My journey started at UIUC and scaled into the heart of Silicon Valley - uniting 4,000+ humans across SF. 🚀 lifeofwadhwa (2023–Present): > Curating SF professional communities thru IRL events (127+ since Summer of 2024 and counting) - from high-stakes poker and pitch nights to yacht parties and Yosemite trips. 🚀 GrabChai (2024–2025): > Scaled the SF chapter to 600+ members (2,400+ RSVPs), hosting 14 mixers for founders/VCs with partners like Zoom and Alma. 🚀 Yahoo Culture Force (2023–2025): > Lead organizer of 40+ internal events, driving engagement for hundreds of employees. 🚀 UIUC Roots (2020–2023): > Founded Friends@UIUC (120+ members in 13 days) - curating house parties, intimate experiences and group trips to Florida and Chicago. 4️⃣ What’s my day job? 📍 Data Product Manager @ WebMD (2026–Present): > Working across WebMD, PulsePoint, and Medscape to centralize data assets and ensure they are AI-ready for the future of healthcare. 📍 Product Manager @ Yahoo (2023–2026): > Owned strategy for Yahoo’s Data Management Platform (DMP), targeting capabilities, and audiences across UI and API business. 📍 Junior PM @ Yahoo (2023): > Drove strategy for a $220M Connected TV business on the Yahoo SSP. 📍 Product Internships (2021–2022): > Launched search recommendation engines on the DSP and competitive CTV frameworks on the SSP side. 3️⃣ Why Product? I’m a "high-functioning extrovert" with a CS degree. Product is the only role that blends technical skills like SQL and Figma with my love for people. I don't just build features; I command rooms. 2️⃣ Why the USA? I turned down offers in 5 countries to pursue my undergrad in CS with a minor in Business at UIUC. I served as 1 of 2 student reps for 7,000+ undergraduates, shaping departmental policy and curriculum. 1️⃣ How did it all start? My story doesn't start with typing "Hello World" when I was 13 years old. I was busy playing badminton for my country, and professionally, I wanted to become a part of the X-Men. I don't think Stan Lee was impressed - so I brought that energy to tech instead.

  • The hardest part of living in SF isn't the rent. It’s the ambition envy. 🏃‍♂️ I live a deeply fulfilling life. My calendar is packed with incredible people, big events, real passions, and high ambitions. Yet an ambient voice tells me I’m not doing enough. Because in SF, someone is always doing more. There’s a 22-year-old dropout who just raised $5M for their first startup. There’s a 16-year-old who’s been writing production code for a decade. At the same time, there’s a 35-year-old in Ohio working a steady 9-to-5, going home to a loving family, and feeling completely at peace; probably a lot more content with his life than I am with mine. I catch myself wondering: Do I want contentment, or do I want success? Can you actually have both? Or does extreme ambition require sacrificing peace of mind? I don't have the answer yet. But if you’ve ever felt this exact pull while building in tech, you’re not alone. Let's build. 🔌 #SanFrancisco #Founders #VentureCapital #MentalHealth

  • I haven’t been to a single networking event in the last 30 days. 🚫 If you know me, you know how wild that sounds. But hear me out: I’m not drinking anymore. Free pizza doesn't call out to me. And honestly? Moving just for the sake of movement isn't cutting it anymore. I’ve been intentionally drowning out the noise. In tech, especially in SF, it's easy to confuse motion with progress. We fill our calendars with rooms, chats, and happy hours - convinced that being busy equals moving forward. It doesn't. Progress is the only actual aim. I don't have all the answers figured out yet. But if you’re reading this right now: pause. Take a breath. Are you actually building toward something meaningful, or are you just running on a treadmill because everyone else is? Let's build. 🔌 #Founders #VentureCapital #Startups #SelfImprovement

  • You can be winning on paper and still feel empty inside. Right now, I’m making a lot of things happen. I love my job. I love the things I build outside of it. But somehow, my soul isn't happy. I feel like I've lost my whimsy. When you spend every day scaling the same machinery and chasing the next milestone, the spark quietly disappears. The whole package just isn't selling the same to me anymore. Is it time for new side quests? Is it time to leave SF and move to New York? Or do I just need to stop optimizing every second of my life and remember how to play? I don't have the clean, polished answer today. Perspective takes time. Let's build. 🔌 PS: I didn't want to post my face so here's pictures from my last hike. #Founders #VentureCapital #Startups #MentalHealth #Perspective
