For two years, people kept asking me why I came back after London Business School, and it wasn’t something I wanted to talk about. So much so that LinkedIn never even saw my graduation. Classmates. Recruiters. Family friends. Strangers at weddings. Some of them meant it kindly. Some of them didn't. The real answer just didn't sound like a strategy. Embarrassment? Denial? Probably both. Too many emotions to put out in public. What happened wasn’t exactly the post-Masters glow-up post. I graduated from London Business School in 2023 with a job offer in London. A few months later, the start date got pushed. A few months after that, the offer was withdrawn entirely because of the economic slowdown. I cried for quite a bit. I'd lost the window for my PSW visa, lost what I thought was my dream job. The sensible move was probably to look for another job in London. That's where the network was, where the degree "worked," where the career I'd been planning still made sense on paper. Instead I stayed in Bangalore. Not because of a strategic read on the Indian market or a thesis about emerging economies. We've been conditioned to treat hustle as proof of success. I chose the easier path, for once. Stayed close to family, where life was simpler. Two years later, I can confirm: choosing the easier path is not, in fact, a bad thing. That gap year I did all the side quests, an internship, a solo trip or three, an entire Tanjore painting from scratch. Mostly to keep myself sane. But it’s been a wild journey and it’s been great to be home!
Applying for a master's degree can be incredibly overwhelming - I've created a Notion template to organise your entire application journey and hopefully make it a bit less stressful: https://lnkd.in/gZgEyYhU (Adding a video in the comments to help you use it) Reflecting on my master's application journey at London Business School, I remember the overwhelming process of, building my profile, and managing applications. It was a lot to handle, and I know many of you are facing the same challenges. After graduating and helping fellow applicants, I realized there had to be a better way. That's why I created a Notion template to organize the entire university application process. This template will help you: 🏗 Build and track your professional profile 🏛 Manage application requirements for different schools 📅 Keep on top of important deadlines It's not a magic solution, but it's a tool I wish I had when I was applying. If you're in the midst of applications or planning to apply in the future, you might find it useful. Happy to help out if you get stuck anywhere or have any feedback regarding the tool! Hope you like it, make sure to share it with those who might find it useful 😊
Three jobs. Three completely different industries. Somehow, each one prepared me for the next. In 2023, I was doing research at a VC. Until April this year, I was leading growth at a pickleball startup. In May, I came back to MoveInSync, where I'm now helping build a large mobility symposium and automating internal processes with AI. None of those roles hand off cleanly. There was no playbook for any of them, which sounds like a problem, but mostly isn't. At the fund, I spent my time sizing unfamiliar markets and building investment theses. At the startup, it was consumer research in a category that barely existed in India. Different industries, but the same underlying question: Who actually wants this, and what are they comparing it to? The startup taught me something else too. Running tournaments forces you to solve problems no one documents. You learn the order in which to communicate things, how much of an event is logistics versus experience, and how to make things work when there's no manual. I found myself relying on those instincts, not because the job was similar, but because the way of thinking was. The title changes. The industry changes. The work changes. The way you think doesn't.
