About Eric Zimmerman

Head of BD @ Sardine 🐟 | Agentic financial crime platform for fraud prevention & AML | Writing about sales, BD, and building teams that win

I lead Business Development at Sardine, the agentic financial crime platform for fraud prevention and AML. We help banks, merchants, and fintechs stop fraud in real time, prevent AI-driven attacks, and automate fraud and AML operations. One platform. 450+ enterprise customers. $1.36 trillion in payments screened. I joined in March 2022 as employee #45 and the first BD hire, pre-Series A. I built the BD function from the ground up: team structure, outbound playbook, ICP, messaging, and the social selling motion we still run today. Now I lead a team of 7 across the US, EMEA, and LATAM at a Series C company with 200+ employees. Before Sardine, I was the first Enterprise BD hire at Signifyd, scaled the team from 2 to 30+ and helped bring in the largest enterprise logos globally. Before that, JPMorgan, where I learned how to navigate complex organizations and build relationships that last. What I write about on LinkedIn: • Outbound sales and business development strategy • Building and leading high-performing BD teams with remote work culture • Fraud prevention, financial crime, and what's actually hitting organizations right now • Breaking into tech sales and growing a career in BD I also enjoy helping people break into tech sales. If you're coming from a different industry, transitioning careers, or just trying to land your first SDR or BDR role, feel free to reach out. I've helped people go from law enforcement, finance, and other backgrounds into tech sales roles at top companies. Happy to share what I know. Outside of work: I volunteer alongside law enforcement and security professionals to fight human trafficking and child exploitation. This cause is personal to me. I use my platform to raise awareness and support the people doing this work every day. If you're in fraud prevention, financial crime, fintech, or BD, let's connect.

  • Almost 5 years at Sardine and I just got my first ever swag box. 📦 When I joined, we were under 50 people. Small, scrappy, figuring it out as we went. Swag wasn't really a thing yet, we had some t-shirts and hats we threw together ourselves and that was about it. Fast forward to now, we've scaled a lot, and so has our People team. New joiners get these incredible welcome boxes these days. I've been watching new Sardines post their swag pics for a while now with a little bit of FOMO if I'm being honest. So the other day I DMed Sierra on our People team and told her exactly that. No hesitation on her end. Box showed up at my door the very next day. This is honestly just one small example of what our People team does for us. They're constantly finding ways to make sure everyone here feels taken care of, whether you're employee 40 or employee 400. Sierra, you made my day. Thank you. 🙏 And if this makes you want to join the fun, we've got 40 open roles on our site right now. 👀

  • A crypto content creator, a former federal prosecutor, and a BD guy walk into a LinkedIn post. None of us would have crossed paths without this platform and that's kind of the whole point of this one. 🔌Stephen spends his days breaking down crypto compliance for an audience that actually cares about the details. Ari spent over a decade prosecuting national security cases at the US Department of Justice and working on sanctions and illicit finance at Treasury before moving into blockchain intelligence. Eric runs outbound and builds pipeline for an agentic risk platform fighting financial crime. On paper, none of us have a reason to know each other. In practice, we've gotten to know each other by showing up here consistently and talking shop in the comments until it turned into something more. That's what collaboration on this platform is supposed to look like. Not three people saying the same thing in three different posts. Three completely different backgrounds, genuinely learning from each other in public. This won't be the last one. 🙌 — Stephen Sargeant, Ari Redbord, Eric Zimmerman

  • Know your Agent. Know your Business. Know your Customer. Sardine is proud to sponsor Middesk's Stratos event on September 22 in Brooklyn. An invite only gathering for the leaders shaping the future of identity. KYB taught us to know the business. KYC taught us to know the customer. Now AI introduces a new actor, the agent. As agents take on more responsibility and fraud gets more sophisticated, the way we think about identity has to evolve with it. Proud to have Adi speaking on behalf of Sardine at this one. Joining him on the lineup: → Kyle Mack, CEO & Co-founder, Middesk → Ahon Sarkar, SVP AI Platform, Fiserv → Alex Acree, Chief Legal Officer, Unit → David Maimon, Head of Fraud Insights, SentiLink → Flora Z., Head of Onboarding, Brex → John Wiethorn, Head of Financial Crime Compliance & AML/BSA Officer, Gusto → Gabriela Diaz, Head of Compliance Americas, Mercado Libre USA A full day covering everything from AI agents acting on behalf of businesses, to how fraud networks actually unravel, to what it means to build financial infrastructure for a world where your customer might not be human. If you're in the identity, fraud, or compliance space, this is a room worth being in. DM me if you're interested in joining and I'll send over the details. 🔗
