I like being close to the actual problem, not just the ticket someone wrote about it. Most of what I do comes down to taking something messy - a rough idea, requirements that are still changing, a founder who isn't fully sure yet what the product needs to be - and turning it into something that works. Then sticking around long enough to see if it actually solves the problem it was meant to. That's the Forward Deployed Engineer part of how I work. I'm not handed a spec and left alone with it. I talk to whoever actually has the problem, figure out what's really being asked for, build it, ship it, and adjust once real people use it. Requirements shifting mid-build is normal to me, not a crisis. Architecture matters more to me than people usually expect from someone who's also doing client-facing work. What gets decided in week one - how state is managed, how the backend is structured, what's easy to change later and what isn't - is usually the difference between a product that scales and one that gets quietly rewritten six months in. I'd rather build something that survives real usage than something that just demos well. Stack-wise: React, Next.js, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Firebase, CI/CD set up properly from day one. But the stack is the tool. The actual job is figuring out what to build and why, then owning it end to end. One thing I do often: help early-stage founders turn an idea into a working MVP in weeks instead of months, so they're reacting to real user feedback instead of guessing. It's part of the work, not all of it - the same approach holds whether it's a first product or a feature inside something that already exists. Who I usually work with: -> Founders and startup teams who need someone who owns a problem, not just executes a spec -> Product teams that need real frontend/full-stack ownership -> Anyone building something where the requirements aren't fully nailed down yet If that's the kind of work you're doing, happy to talk it through.

You probably don’t have a Next.js problem. You have a rendering strategy problem. CSR, SSR, and SSG are often treated like framework features. But the real question comes before choosing the framework: Where should your page be born? In the browser? On the server? Or ahead of time? That decision affects SEO, personalization, freshness, load speed, server costs, and how interactive your application needs to be. And that’s why I like to think about rendering from the page’s requirements first — framework second. If you’re building a dashboard, e-commerce store, SaaS product, marketing site, blog, or anything in between, the “right” rendering strategy can be completely different. The infographic breaks down the decision into a simple framework: CSR vs SSR vs SSG → then ISR, Streaming SSR, and RSC when things get more nuanced. The goal isn’t to memorize rendering patterns. It’s to know which problem each pattern is solving. So here’s the question: If you had to build your next project from scratch, what would you decide first - the framework or the rendering strategy? #WebDevelopment #React #NextJS #FrontendDevelopment #SoftwareEngineering #WebPerformance #JavaScript #FullStackDevelopment
Same AI tool. Same kind of prompt. One project gets clean code that looks like the team wrote it. The other gets a confident mess, with comments. So what's different? Not the model. It's what the model lands in. AI doesn't fix a weak foundation. It just types on it faster. Skipping the boring setup used to cost you one confusing afternoon. Now it costs that afternoon, multiplied by every file the AI touched before you noticed. What I stopped skipping: the data model, written down before the first prompt one file with naming and folder rules, so the AI isn't guessing a short note per module: what it does, what it must never touch the "why" behind decisions, not just the "what" Documentation was always the thing we'd do later. Now it's literally the prompt. Turns out later showed up. I work full stack (MERN, Next.js) and own features from schema to deploy, so I feel this at every layer, not just the UI. If you're building real products with AI, especially solo or on a small team where nobody's reviewing every change, this one's for you. So be honest: if an AI tool read your repo right now, would it write code your team would approve? Or would it copy the mess it finds? #SoftwareEngineering #AIEngineering #WebDevelopment #MERNStack
