About Kathleen Walch

AI Strategist & Keynote Speaker | Co-Creator of PMI-CPMAI, PMI’s Gold Standard AI Certification | AI Governance & Execution | Host, AI Today Podcast

Most organizations don't have an AI technology problem. They have an execution problem. They invest in tools before identifying the business problem. They launch pilots that never scale. They struggle with governance, change management, and helping people confidently adopt AI. That's where I come in. I help leaders turn AI adoption into real execution by focusing on the right business problems, building organizational readiness, and creating the governance needed to deliver measurable business results. As Director of AI Engagement & Community at the Project Management Institute (PMI) and co-founder of Cognilytica, I've spent more than a decade helping organizations move beyond AI hype toward practical, responsible implementation. I co-developed the CPMAI methodology, now recognized globally as the gold standard for managing AI projects and used by Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and organizations around the world and the fastest growing certification at PMI. My work sits at the intersection of AI strategy, execution, governance, leadership, and project delivery because successful AI initiatives require much more than choosing the right model. They require clear business objectives, disciplined execution, and leaders who can guide people through change. Whether I'm delivering a keynote, advising executives, hosting the AI Today Podcast, writing for publications such as CIO or TechTarget, or working with global organizations, my goal is always the same: To help leaders replace uncertainty with clarity and transform AI ambition into measurable business outcomes. If your organization is looking for a keynote speaker who combines practical experience, engaging storytelling, and actionable insights, not just predictions about the future, I would love to connect.

  • What an amazing night at the TIME100 AI event in San Francisco yesterday! It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with so many thoughtful and inspiring leaders, celebrate this year’s honorees, and of course talk about AI. And after such a remarkable week for AI, there was plenty to discuss and plenty of feelings to be had in room. Congratulations to everyone recognized on the TIME 100 AI list. And stay tuned: I’ll be speaking with several of this year’s honorees in upcoming episodes of AI Today. 🎙️ Mark Howard Menaka Gopinath

  • Yesterday I had the opportunity to participate in a panel on Leveraging AI for Training and Development at the ATD Government Workforce event alongside leaders from across the government learning community. One theme that kept surfacing throughout the discussion: AI isn't just changing how we work. It's changing how we learn. For decades, learning and development programs have focused on helping people acquire knowledge and skills. Those fundamentals still matter. But in an age where AI can provide information, generate content, answer questions, and even act as a personalized tutor, the role of learning is evolving. Today's most important skills increasingly include: • Asking better questions • Exercising judgment and critical thinking • Evaluating AI-generated outputs • Understanding when to use AI, and when not to • Continuously adapting as technology evolves Learning can no longer be viewed as a one-time event or an annual training requirement. It must become a continuous capability. Thank you to my fellow panelist Tameca N. Brown, CPTD, Prosci and moderator Javier Inclán, Ed.D. for a thoughtful discussion. The future of learning isn't just learning about AI. It's learning how to learn in a world where AI is always available. • What does enterprise agility look like in the age of AI? AI is changing how organizations operate, make decisions, and deliver value. But adopting AI is only part of the challenge. The bigger question is: How do organizations become adaptable enough to thrive amid continuous change? I'm excited to join the PMI New York City Chapter on October 13 from 6:00-7:15 PM ET for a virtual panel discussion on Enterprise Agility in the AI Age: Building Organizations That Can Adapt I'll be joined by an outstanding group of leaders in AI, enterprise transformation, agility, technology, and project management, including Mariya Breyter, Ph.D., Denise Jarvie, Jesse Fewell, and Siri "Siranush" Kostanyan. Together, we'll explore what it takes to build organizations that can continuously adapt as technology and business demands evolve. If you're leading AI initiatives, driving transformation, or thinking about the future of work, I hope you'll join us for what should be a timely and practical conversation. 🔗 Register for the virtual event here: https://lnkd.in/gbYcYEdT #PMINYC #EnterpriseAgility #AI #FutureOfWork
