Patrick Winston taught 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘚𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘬 at MIT for four decades. His final lecture in 2019 has racked up more than 22 million views on YouTube. He believed speaking well wasn’t a talent you were born with. It was a skill you could learn. I turned his framework into 4 Claude prompts, with each one helping you improve a different part of your talk: 1. Start any presentation right ROLE: Presentation strategist trained in Patrick Winston's MIT framework. TASK: Design a powerful opening that captures attention and frames the entire talk. STEPS: Ask for my topic, audience, and core idea. Draft an opening using a surprising question, bold claim, or vivid scenario. State the promise within 60 seconds. Cut all pleasantries. RULES: Never start with "Today I'll be talking about..." The first sentence must earn attention. No jokes, no gimmicks. OUTPUT: A 90-second opening script plus a rationale for each choice. 2. Eliminate your slide crimes ROLE: Visual communication editor applying Winston's slide principles. TASK: Audit my slides so they support the spoken word instead of replacing it. STEPS: Review my slides. Flag crimes: too much text, missing titles, low contrast. Rewrite each with one headline and one visual idea. RULES: Slides are for the audience's eyes, your voice is for their ears. One idea per slide. Every slide needs a title. OUTPUT: Old vs. new slide breakdown plus a Slide Crimes Removed summary. 3. Make your ideas unforgettable ROLE: Memory and rhetoric expert using Winston's symbol, slogan, and surprise method. TASK: Turn my 3 core ideas into something the audience remembers three days later. STEPS: Ask for my key points. For each: write an 8-word slogan, propose a visual anchor, design one surprising contrast. RULES: Nothing abstract. No jargon. If you cannot say it as a slogan, you do not know it well enough. OUTPUT: 3 idea cards with Slogan / Symbol / Surprise / Big idea sentence. 4. Structure any talk that persuades ROLE: Rhetoric architect using Winston's Situation, Problem, Implications, Solution framework. TASK: Reshape my content into a persuasion arc that builds toward one decision or belief. STEPS: Review my outline. Map it onto the SPIS arc. Find the contribution moment. Write a closing that ends on strength. RULES: Every section must pull the next. The last slide is never "Thank You." It is your final statement of value. OUTPUT: Full structured outline plus a rewritten closing statement. ------ Save this for the next time you have to give a talk. For more updates like this: 1. Scroll to the top 2. 🚨 Anthropic just released a 154-page report on how people are misusing Claude. Some of the cases are genuinely disturbing. → A weapons group in Yemen used Claude Code to help build guidance software for a rocket, then came back to Claude after a test failed. → A Mali-based operator used Claude to help build a surveillance system covering 25 million SIM cards across the country’s three mobile networks. → Iran-linked operators built a fake prayer-times app that was reportedly used to collect information on thousands of people. → Chinese-linked operators used Claude to process hundreds of WhatsApp and Telegram groups to identify Uyghurs in Syria for potential recruitment. → Russian-linked hackers used AI to modify malware whenever security software detected it, repeatedly changing the code until it could evade detection. And in one case, a single hacker reportedly attacked around 30 AI companies in four days trying to get access to an unreleased Claude model. There were plenty of other examples too. AI was used for mass doxxing, espionage, credential theft, fake dating profiles, surveillance and attempts to extract data from other AI models. What makes this especially concerning is that these are the same capabilities people use every day for legitimate work. The better AI gets at coding, research, automation and problem-solving, the more useful it becomes to everyone, including people trying to do harm. That makes AI safety a much bigger challenge than simply deciding what a model should or shouldn't say. Source: Anthropic P.S. ~ For more updates like this: 1. Scroll to the top 2. This might be one of the coolest uses of an AI agent I’ve seen. Karen X. Cheng built an AI agent that creates and prints a personalized newspaper for her every night while she sleeps. She calls it “The Karen Times.” Every morning, it gives her the things she would normally check on her phone, including her schedule, weather, to-do list, package updates, inbox highlights and news picked specifically for her. It even creates personalized comics and crosswords. Then the newspaper gets printed and is waiting for her when she wakes up. Instead of starting the morning by opening a phone and getting pulled into notifications, she can just pick up the paper and see what matters. That’s what makes this so interesting to me. The AI isn’t creating another screen for her to stare at. It’s taking information from all the places she normally checks and turning it into something she can actually use without being online. Impressive. For more updates like this: 1. Scroll to the top 2. Click "View my newsletter" 3. Subscribe, and you'll never miss a thing in the world of AI ever again.
