cs & quantitative finance @ stevens institute of technology
👋 Hi! My name is Saanvi, and I am a student studying Computer Science and Quantitative Finance along with being a writer, public speaker, advocate, artist, and now content creator. ✨ My greatest lessons have come not from the experiences and opportunities I create, but the reflections I've written in my personal journal. My aim on this platform is to bring my best ideas, reflections, and questions from my journal to the forefront of my LinkedIn page and other platforms. 🏆 Big changes require bold moves. Each move filled with uncertainty, excitement, and curiosity. 📝 As a rising sophomore in college, I have so much to share and learn. My work in being a front-end Project Manager at the Stevens Software Engineering Organization, being on the QuackHacks (Stevens' annual hackathon) minor board with Stevens Women in Computer Science, leading as Publicity Chair for Stevens South Asian Student Association, and at the same time building my Medium newsletter and personal brand while learning more about the FinTech world is only the beginning. 🚀 I am always open to new projects, ideas, coffee chats. Feel free to reach out! Find me on Handshake: https://app.joinhandshake.com/profiles/xkamh8

i went to the aws summit in nyc and took home 2 things with me: a greater insight on aws tools and free gifts :) the $30 round-trip ticket to ny was more daunting than i expected. but once i arrived, the abundance of people, information, and opportunities to learn made me forget the horror of commuting to nyc during the world cup. during the summit, i was surrounded by an expo with builder sessions, hand-on labs, product demos, and a keynote speech. the biggest thing i learned from Swami Sivasubramanian's keynote: compounding momentum is your most valuable asset aws' newest tool: continuum, compounds on efficiency through finding security risks via the full software lifecycle: - discovery -> findings from your environment - prioritization -> evaluate every finding by business impact - validating -> prove that a security risk matters to a specific business - remediation -> drive towards the fix efficiency and automation has been aws' biggest long-term goal and now the world's largest asset. a common theme i noticed in the resulting stats of aws products: less people with less time. moving forward, ai tools are not being used to enhance what already has been created, but are being used as the foundation to what can be created. #awssummit #aitools #nyc
my eagle scout project took me 267+ hours of work 1 large phase: built a 40 ft long cattle shelter 1 small phase: restored an in-ground garden 2 years in the making first asian female to become an eagle scout in my troop and i almost quit twice, so here are: 2 mindsets i wish i adopted before i started ➛ clarity over doubt - find ways to ask questions & absorb your resources ➛ keep your mind, eyes, and ears open - the magic lies in the details 6 habits i practiced during my project ➛ relying on my mentor/parents - a leader is only as good as their team ➛ patience is not taught, it's practiced ➛ other eagle projects are a reference not a roadmap - YOU create the roadmap ➛ i was 15 when i started yet i chose inexperience to be my biggest strength ➛ constantly showing up 100% ❌ showing up at 10% ✅ ➛ give yourself time instead of aiming for “efficiency” 7 reflections from the hardest thing i’ve built ➛ the world is a book - study it & then learn by making your mark ➛ a setback is an opportunity for a thousand step forwards ➛ you can divide up the tasks but your focus & energy should not be divided ➛ to find the solution is to live in the problem ➛ choose a reason to keep going when things get hard ➛ it’s your duty to reflect on the process, not just complete the project ➛ celebrate the wins that are personal to YOU and some of these things are interchangeable and they overlap, but im giving you a piece of the big puzzle that is leading and executing a project at large scale :)
at 16, i spoke at the aapi world health & ai congress in nyc. and the #1 question i left with: if i could create my own educational contest, what would it be on? we have seen it all: - spelling bees - vocab bees - math bees but i was surprised by the competition ideas the children i spoke to came up with. their answers included: - comic strip/book creation - rubik's cube competitions - fantasy storytelling - art contests their ideas weren't ingenious but it made me realize how standard north south's competitions have been. and how we truly succeed as a community when we: - give children the space to experiment with their thoughts - ask the right questions to stimulate their own passions - maintain the momentum by directing their energy speaking to children from across the country about their experience with north south reaffirmed my belief: our greatest duty as students is to pursue our own form of education. and that is the mindset the we at marlboro chapter brought to north south's quarterly meeting an open-mic segment for competition weekend an open-mic segment for the children who have the voice: - to speak - to make laugh - to reflect and for me to listen, because their feedback matters most. leave it in the comments: how do you pursue your form of education?
