2018 → 2026. Eight years. In 2018, I was a newly appointed court expert, a programmer since 2009, and an entrepreneur with more failures than successes on my track record. I didn't feel ready. I decided to be. What has happened since then: → Incubou became the first cybersecurity accelerator certified by IAPMEI in Portugal. → The cybersecurity hub launched in 2024 became a national benchmark and a bridge between Europe and North America. → Cybertech Acceleration took cybersecurity founders to Silicon Valley and reached Web Summit Qatar. → A TEDx stage, three books, and over 12 talks in 12 months, from Lisbon to Boulder. → Finalist for the 2026 Cybersecurity Excellence Awards. → Winner for the 2026 Most Influential CEO Awards → A legal and digital forensics practice that now operates across Portugal, Brazil, and the United States. But the list isn't the point. The point is that, in 2018, none of these things existed. And none of them came about because I felt prepared. They emerged because I started before I was ready. Professional fulfillment, for me, isn't the trophy at the end. It’s looking back and not recognizing the map, because the path took shape with every step. Almost everything has changed. Only one thing has stayed the same: being ready isn't a feeling. It’s a decision.
