Earlier this year I went through a layoff. A few weeks later I was already back in motion, working again, building again. Growth isn't something I turn on when things go wrong. It's a habit I keep running whether the year is good or bad. What helped me come out of that layoff strong was that I was already doing the work before it happened. That's why I said yes to Hattie the PMM's 5-day Visible & Valued Challenge this week. Moments of change are exactly when visibility as a PMM matters most. New conversations, new people who haven't seen how I think yet, only what I ship. My goal for these five days is simple: get sharper at showing my thinking, not just doing it quietly behind the scenes. 20+ years into this career, I'll still rebuild a positioning document from scratch if the strategy underneath it is wrong. I want more people to see that thinking, not just the final output. You probably have a library of old videos sitting in one language, doing nothing for anyone who doesn't speak it. I tested this weekend whether AI translation is actually good enough to fix that. I ran one of my product demo clips through Synthesia's Video Translator, English into Spanish. Same content, new audience, no reshoot, no voice actor. The lip sync is what got me. Watch the mouth, not just the audio, and it still holds. Setup takes minutes. Upload a clip or paste a YouTube link (this is what I did), pick the language, done. One detail if you localize for Latin America: my Spanish is Castilian, from Spain. Synthesia's output defaults to a more neutral Spanish, which actually reaches a LatAm audience better than my own accent would. The free plan is enough to judge quality. No downloads and a few things are locked, but the paid tiers are cheap enough that it's not a real blocker once you've seen the output.
