Psychology → Marketing | Brand Manager at Boba Bhai | Working across social, influencers, PR, content, Reddit and a little bit of everything
I studied psychology. Now I work in marketing. Which, in hindsight, isn't that random. I like figuring out why people like something, talk about it, share it, or completely ignore it. I also spend an unreasonable amount of time on Instagram, Reddit, Twitter and whatever corner of the internet people are currently obsessing over. Sometimes that becomes work, and sometimes it fucks up my sleep schdule At Boba Bhai, I work across brand marketing social media, influencer campaigns, PR, Reddit, Twitter, launches and a bunch of things that don't fit neatly into one job description. I like experimenting more than following a fixed marketing playbook. Try something. See if people care. Figure out why it worked (or why it absolutely didn't). Try again. Outside work, I freelance on influencer marketing, social media and content, and occasionally write on LinkedIn when I notice something interesting about brands, people or the internet. Basically, psychology gave me the habit of observing people. Marketing gave me somewhere to use it. Find my blogs here: linktr.ee/yashasvi.agarwal

“Hindi se kya hi hoga?” Funny. Because the same Hindi I treated like a school subject is now becoming brand strategy. For the longest time, English sounded aspirational. Hindi sounded… ehhh normal. But consumer psychology is changing. People don’t just want brands that look premium anymore. They want brands that feel familiar. And B2C brands have clearly noticed, whether it's The Coca-Cola Company putting कोका-कोला on packs or Zee Studios switching its social identity to Hindi or Instagram adding Devanagari inspired fonts and investing more deeply in Indian-language content, or whether it's Boba Bhai with a touch of Indian Identity These aren’t just localisation moves. That’s what brands are understanding now. Hindi and Hinglish don’t just make a brand sound local. They make it sound more familiar, more relatable, and more like us, well psychologically it reduces distance and increase familiarity. And when a brand speaks like your friend, meme page or group chat, it starts feeling less like advertising and more like culture. maybe Hindi was never “just a subject.” maybe sounding Indian is aspirational now too. maybe, who knows? still in the process of figuring it out.
Boba Bhai is one of India's fastest-growing QSR brands, bringing Korean-inspired food and bubble tea to customers across the country. With over 110 stores nationwide, we're building brands that people love through bold design, memorable campaigns, and exceptional customer experiences. We are currently looking for 1. Graphic Designer (3-5 Years of experience) 2. Photographer & Videographer (2-5 Years of experience) 3. Content Writer (1-2 Years of experience) 4. Influencer Marketing Associate (1-2 Years of experience) All the positions are full-time WFO from HSR Layout, Bengaluru. If interested, please DM me your portfolio.
Did you know you now need six apps to order one cup of coffee? Okay, that’s a bit of an exaggeration. But tell me you haven’t walked into a QSR or a cafe and downloaded their app because they offered you a really good first order discount, only to realise later that the coffee was… ehhh maybe questionable. Third Wave Coffee, abcoffee Pick almost any chain. As a kid, going back to the same place felt much simpler. You returned because the food was good, or because it was simply on the way home. Now loyalty comes with an interface, where the first step is to download an app, so the brand can gamify the whole transaction for you and maybe make buying for from that one chain slightly convenient? but the interesting part is that these systems aren’t always trying to make us love a brand. Sometimes, they’re just trying to make leaving slightly inconvenient. I went deeper into café apps, rewards, consumer psychology, and why every food brand suddenly wants a place on your home screen in my latest Substack: https://lnkd.in/gvwuk3Ds
