Building Wallble | Scaled Sarahah to 300M+
Founder, innovation center leader, and ex-Aramco strategist. Career across three worlds: scaled a consumer app (Sarahah) to 300M+ users and #1 on the App and Play Stores, led the region's first SME innovation center for AI and data science, and worked in strategy planning and enterprise performance at Saudi Aramco during IPO readiness. Supported Saudi Arabia's top startups as Monshaat's top entrepreneurs liaison, and remain well connected across the MENA entrepreneurship ecosystem. I'm also an expert consultant in networks like GLG, Guidepoint, and AlphaSights.

At LEAP, someone told me my next challenge is recreating Sarahah's traffic for Wallble. He was wrong. And for years, so was I. After Sarahah I spent years chasing that same feeling. The walls idea existed before Wallble, and I killed it once already, swapping it for a "world wall" where anyone could post from anywhere. A new social network. Maximum reach. I traded a workable business for a viral one. Viral growth feels incredible. It is also the wrong compass. We have all watched the pattern: a huge launch, an irrational funding round, a wave of influencer marketing, and a traffic chart that spikes and flatlines within months. I would love my Slack bot to ping me about new walls all day. But if that traffic never becomes a profitable business, I wake up one morning with no company, and the people who trusted me have no jobs. Revenue has the same trap. Subscriptions would "maximize revenue" for Wallble, for a while. They make no sense for the user. Why would you pay me every month for a product you only need when you have an event? Repeat usage comes from the next event, theirs or one belonging to someone close to them. That is enough to build a business on. Hacking your way to maximum users or maximum revenue is usually short lived. An Arabic poet said it better: أشد الغم عندي في سرورٍ... تيقّن عنه صاحبه انتقالا The heaviest grief I know is a joy... its owner is certain it will pass.
“Quick question” is a common cold outreach opener these days, probably because AI tools keep recommending it. When I read it, I get an uncomfortable feeling. What actually earns a reply is value and relevance. Which brings an idea to me: a relevance checker for outreach, not a spam filter. Something that sorts your inbox by what’s actually relevant to you, and lets the rest wait. Quick question 😅: how do you feel when you see “quick question”?
Took the growth experiment further: posted the video natively on Pinterest, Instagram, and here. Let's see which channel works better for the "search everywhere" strategy.
