Your job title does not define your value. And leading with it in an interview is killing your credibility... Here is the exact script to flip the script on "Tell me about yourself" interview question: 🔴 The interviewer has already read your resume. 🔴 They don't need an audio version of your LinkedIn profile. 🔴 Your job title doesn't define you. What defines you is: 🟢 The exact problems you solve. 🟢The quantifiable results you deliver. 🟢Where you want to drive impact next. Next time you hear "Tell me about yourself", use this 3-part framework: 1. Value Proposition (What you solve): Skip the title. Lead with the core friction you eliminate for businesses. 2. Proof of Impact (What you achieve): Highlight 1–2 measurable wins using real numbers. 3. Future Projection (Where you want to be): Anchor your career direction to the specific challenge this role needs to solve. Real comparison: ❌ Don't say: "I’m an Account Manager with 5 years of experience managing B2B tech clients, looking for my next opportunity." ✅ Say instead: "I help B2B tech companies turn at-risk client accounts into long-term growth partners, boosting renewal rates by 25%. In my last role, I streamlined onboarding and product adoption workflows to accelerate time-to-value. Now, I'm looking to bring that experience to a team where I can lead expansion strategy for high-growth accounts." Interviews aren't won by listing past titles. They are won by demonstrating future solutions. Titles tell people where you’ve been. Your value proposition shows people where you can take them. Recruiters don't reject your resume because you lack experience. They reject it because your resume doesn't tell the real story. If your CV is just a laundry list of tasks and daily duties instead of context, results, and measurable impact, you are leaving your hire to chance. Here is the difference between a CV that gets ignored and one that lands interviews: ❌ Task-driven (Weak): • "Responsible for managing client accounts and running meetings." (Tells me what you did, but not how well you did it). ✅ Impact-driven (The XYZ Formula): • "Managed 25+ key enterprise accounts, generating $1.2M in annual revenue by optimizing client onboarding and reducing churn by 18%." (Shows scope, metric outcome, and specific action). ❌ Task-driven (Weak): • "Helped with product deployment and customer onboarding." ✅ Impact-driven (The XYZ Formula): • "Accelerated deployment timelines by 30% across 15 high-value clients by implementing structured milestone reviews." A job description lists tasks. A top candidate’s resume proves outcomes. Stop describing your daily routine. Start quantifying your business impact. Look at your CV right now: does it list tasks, or does it showcase results? 8 interviews. 3 weeks of preparation. . Zero responses. A close friend of mine just spent nearly a month preparing presentations, doing multi-stage interviews, and giving his 100% to a hiring process. Then? Total radio silence. I’ve experienced this myself, and it’s one of the most draining parts of being a professional. When a candidate invests hours preparing, researching, and showing up with vulnerability, silence shouldn't be the default outcome. Here is what we often forget about the hiring journey: 🟢 A "No" provides dignity and closure. It lets someone close the chapter mentally and focus energy on new opportunities. 🔴 Silence creates unnecessary anxiety. People wonder: Did they see my email? Should I follow up again? Am I still in the running? # 🟢 Candidate experience IS your employer brand. People will always remember how you made them feel when you didn't pick them. To hiring managers and talent teams: We know your inbox is overflowing. We know hiring pipelines move fast and priorities shift. But sending a 2-line update or a brief sentence of feedback takes 30 seconds. For the person waiting on the other side of that screen, those 30 seconds change everything. What’s your take: Should automated rejections at least be mandatory after an interview stage, or is a brief personal note the standard we should aim for? P.S. If you’re currently waiting on interview feedback and feel stuck in limbo, keep your head up—your value is not defined by someone else's silence. ♻️ Repost this if you believe candidate communication needs to change. 📬 Subscribe to my newsletter for weekly frameworks on career pivots 👉 Follow me ➔ to stay ahead in your career journey. ☕ Looking for guidance on your next career step?
