Hi, I’m Sanja. I spent 12 years inside fashion retail with brands like Mango, ASOS and Urban Revivo — leading merchandising, navigating international expansion, and managing the constant tension between trend and profitability. I’ve seen what happens when: • margin erodes quietly • inventory sits in the wrong markets • aspirational demand pulls back • growth plans ignore structural risk Today, I work with fashion and beauty brands on pricing, inventory and market intelligence strategy at Centric Software. My focus is on structural market shifts, including: • Margin architecture and where it quietly breaks • Inventory risk in volatile demand cycles • The squeeze on brands and supplier pressure • Luxury and aspirational demand behavior • How cultural signals translate into measurable commercial outcomes If you’re building in this space and thinking beyond surface-level growth — we’ll probably have a good conversation.

Episode 4 of The Retail Reality Check is live. As always huge credit to Elizabeth Shobert for the data that made this series possible. If you are just joining: go back to Episode 1. The series builds on itself and this episode will land harder with the context. This week we are getting into the inventory signal. And it is the data point that most pricing and merchandising teams are tracking completely separately from their pricing decisions. That is a problem. Because inventory moves before prices do. Every single time. And this applies to competitive inventory data just as much as your own internal signals. What your competitors are introducing, selling through and clearing out is telling you exactly what they are about to do on pricing BEFORE they do it. The retailers connecting these signals are the ones acting earlier, protecting margin better and reducing the reactive discounting that kills profitability. Follow for Episode 5: that one gets into something that surprises most people about how differently the same category performs across different markets. #RetailRealityCheck #Retail #FashionIndustry #Pricing #MarketIntelligence #RetailStrategy
I never had a mentor and I think about that every now and then. I have learned most things in my career the hard way. There have been people along the way who helped me (and I will never underestimate that) BUT I never had an active mentor throughout. Someone in my corner who had already walked the path I was trying to figure out. And I think about how different things might have looked if I had. I also think about how individualistic society is becoming. How much we have moved away from community and the village mentality. And how much the next generation is going to NEED people who are willing to show up for them. So I want to be that person for someone. I would love to mentor somsomeone transitioning into tech sales from fashion retail. Simply put: it’s a journey I know inside out and I would like to help someone navigate it faster than I did. If that is you, DM me. If you know someone it could be relevant for, send this to them.
Continuing to be grateful to Elizabeth Shobert for the data behind this series with episode 5 now live. None of this would exist without her work. This week we are getting into the regional problem: hint, it’s the one that catches most global retailers completely off guard. The same category does not move at the same speed in every market. The UK, Germany, France and Italy are all operating on completely different competitive rhythms. And a pricing strategy built for one market will consistently underperform in another! Most retailers know this instinctively… however, very few have the data to actually act on it. Follow for Episode 6: the most actionable of the whole series. #Planning #Retail #FashionIndustry #Pricing #MarketIntelligence #RetailStrategy #Merchandising #FashionRetail
