You don’t need to be an Engineer to work in Construction. There are so many career and freelancing opportunities in this industry. You just need to build the right skills, get relevant qualifications or certifications, and gain some practical experience — even if you start as an assistant. I did it myself, and I know many others who have successfully built their careers this way. Opportunities are there worldwide like Quantity Surveyor, Draftsman, Project Manager & Coordinator etc Sometimes, you just need the right skills, the right direction and the right guidance.

The biggest challenge of being a Quantity Surveyor is not the job. Its explaining to people outside construction what a Quantity Surveyor actually does. 😅 50% of the time, I just say: “I work in construction.” And when I really don’t feel like explaining… I just say: “I’m in IT.” Not sure if other Quantity Surveyors can relate to this pain.
